Gladiator Story Tower
About this creation
2014 MOCathalon
Team Durin's Folk
Category: Small Story Tower
Build a tower at least 3 levels high telling a story or depicting a theme. IE: Star Wars Episodes, Lord of the Rings scenes, Monsters, evolution of technology, etc. Here's the catch, it can be no larger than 8x8, minimal overhang (IE, a minifig arm here, a plant leaf hanging over there, etc)

For this category I really wanted to give it my all and I knew that I would have lots of time to make my MOC as polished as possible. I love to make story towers and I just recently saw Gladiator for the first time, so as soon as I saw this category I knew exactly what I wanted to do. This story tower has TEN, count them TEN levels, so structurally it was quite a challenge. Looking back on this I realize it may have been a little... ambitious... to say the least, but I somehow managed to pull it off. Hope you like it as much as I do! :)

All of the levels stacked one on top of the other, sorry for the bad picture, my photo set up doesn't work very well for extremely tall builds.

The opening scene where Maximus defeats a group of barbarians.

Outraged that his father Marcus Aurelius chose Maximus to be the next Emperor of Rome instead of himself, Commodus smothers his father and declares himself the new ruler.

A closer look at the cheese slope floor. Note that the two pillars seen in the image of the tower have been removed so that one can better see the rest of this level.

Maximus finds his wife and son burned and hung at his destroyed home, ordered to be murdered by Commodus.

Exhausted and injured Maximus collapses on a road and is captured by a travelling caravan.

The infamous scene of Maximus in the small scale arena in a Roman province.

Maximus enters Rome, eager to prove his worth as a Gladiator to perhaps be let free and have revenge on Commodus. This particular scene is not in the movie, however I though that it would be nice to include it so that I could build some Roman architecture.

Maximus spares the old champion's life even though Commodus and the public told him to kill the champion.

Maximus and the other gladiators attempt to free themselves only to be met by a Roman legion and to be enslaved once again, many also die in the process.

The gates of heaven that Maximus sees just before he dies in The Coliseum after being stabbed by Commodus before entering the arena.

Maximus collapses after killing Commodus and finally returns to his family in the after life.

So I guess now there is really only one question left.

Thank you for viewing and God Bless! :)

This is way under rated. This is fabulous ! I love the cheese slope floor. Great story. " I'll have my revenge in this world or the next" excellent entry!
