About this creation

2014 MA

Hi!

I built Escher's Impossible Waterfall and tried to make it cool yet still accurate to the illusion. I packed quite a bit of detail into this build that I hope the judges notice. While I realize the illusion isn't perfect like Legohaulic's, it certainly has more to it as a whole scene.

This a futuristic training facility for those who have seemingly superhuman skills. The course is lined with toxic chemicals, there are guns that shoot toxic chemicals at the trainee, and a robot that the trainee has to fight past while all the chemicals are around him.

And I know that the chemicals I will state are colorless - I included color anyway for aesthetic appeal.

Here we are! The blue that is bordering the course in this area is tabun. If the trainee touches it enough, it will cause paralysis.

As we approach the red section, you can see the robot the trainee has to fight past.

The red section is highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide! Contact = kablooey! (I think. I'm no chemist :P)

The guns (personally my favorite part). They shoot purple capsules of strychnine at the trainee that he must dodge. If he comes in contact with the chemical, it will cause muscular convulsions.

The strychnine is transported to the guns via . . . yellow tubes!

A control panel including a switch that can shut the entire operation down if something goes terrible wrong.

The tower! I liked the top a lot. Kind of random but cool.

For me, the illusion part was little underplayed. Score: 3

Quoting Stephen Boe Great build Alex! Unfortunately, I share the judges' sentiments. I think what threw the illusion of a bit is that you didn't include the actual waterfall section of the moc. Had you included it, it would appear that the section that (In Escher's work) carries the water to the bottom story to the top, was connected to those levels. But since you didn't include that, it looks kind of as though that section is just hanging from the top level. Still, a great effort. Good luck with the final judge!
Yeeaaah . . . Thanks Stephen, you're right.

I see a lot of great details, but the illusion is not developed quite as well as it could be. Score: 3

For me, the illusion just didn't come through as much as I woulda' hoped. But still a fun build and a great take on the category. A strong 3 pointer. ~ Chris.

Awesome! Looks great! You did a nice job si-fi-ing Escher's work. One qualm, though: hydrogen peroxide isn't very harmful. Some people even use it to brush their teeth! Doesn't take away from the awesome build one bit, though.
