2014 MocAthalon Entry - Reverse a Historical Moment
About this creation
(This is a modified version of my entry. I had to change a few things about it.)

Cue the strings..... Here comes the horror.

Team Plastic Surgeons

2014 MocAthalon

So we all have heard the saying, "Best thing since sliced bread!" Well, where does that come from? Thanks to the all reliable Wikipedia *wink wink*, I did a little research.

Machine sliced bread was first sold in 1928. An Otto Frederick Rohwedder from Iowa invented the first bread slicing machine in 1912.

But because of a fire which destroyed the first slicer, he didn't have a full working machine again until 1928.

Obviously, Otto got back to work after the fire but what would have happened if he just lost hope and gave up? Never made another machine? Here is the harsh "reality"....

DUN, DUN, DUN!!

(Captions are under the photos they... Caption.)

Because he.... Lets call him Joe. Because Joe has never gotten to experience a good, pre-sliced sandwich, he is beside himself.

He has all the proper sandwich fixings, (Please note the lettuce, cheese, tomato, the spilled mustard, mayonaise and good old fashioned Roast Beef...) But with out sliced bread, he is left with nothing but a few vegetable based products, meat and cheddar.

Haha, those crazed eyes... XP

Poor Joe.... Poor, poor Joe. He is out of his mind with grief for not being able to have a nice, tasty sandwich. Joe refuses to eat anything else! Therefore, he has been reduced to just skin, bones and torn, worn out clothing. Have pity on Joe.

Little does our sandwiched deprived fellow know, he does actually have the means to make his OWN cut sandwich. I suppose someone should tell him...

The beautifully crafted bench...

And table.

Haha, I am not very good with story lines or monologues but this was a fun one.

So yeah, I hoped you liked my little changes. I just made the loaves bigger and changed the ketchup to mayonaise. I mean, I know I don't eat ketchup on a nice deli sandwich. I don't know about anybody else.... And this build is meant to look very cartoon-y.

I hope you all "enjoyed" looking at it and reading as much as I did building it!

Very nice! His expression truly is amazing, perfectly sums up the state we all find ourselves in without any sliced bread!

I've been struck with a strange sense of deja vu. I could have sworn I've seen this before. ;P Guess I'll say it again. Nice minilander. PS: What was wrong with the other one?

HA! Love this idea Abby! You nailed the fig being unable to eat because the bread is TOO massive to make a decent sammich. Love his gaunt cheeks and the ribcage and skin and bones are fantastic. Wonderful reversal of history! Makes you Wonder. (XD see what I did there? nevermind.)

I think this is wacky in all the right ways. The rib cage is great, and contrary to your write-up you are good at thus narrative thing. Fingers crossed it will give some of those judges a laugh.
