About this creation
A project is underway. As I mentioned in my last “Year in Review” post, I am currently involved in a collaboration for BrickWorld Chicago 2014. The project includes a SHIP of about 106 studs that I’m hoping to have posted within the next couple weeks, but it will also include several other ships. Among those others are micro space superiority fighters. I think I’m pretty much settled on the fighters looking like this one I have here. I can’t imagine that I won’t mess with the details of this particular ship between now and BrickWorld, including the colors, but after several attempts and many thrown away concepts, this is the one I’ve been happiest with.

I wanted this ship to look not only fast and heavily armed, but also heavily armored. I was able to come up with a more bulky look that I think makes it appear a bit larger than it actually is.

I’m also toying around a bit with my presentation. I’m pretty happy with most of the shots here, though some didn’t turn out as well. I included them anyway because I wanted to make sure that I posted the critical angles.

Let’s have a look.

A look at the bottom.

Thanks for checking it out. Let me know what you think.

Dude. That is really cool. That is one of the best microscale ships I've seen. Awesome job.

Excellent armored fighter! I need some of these for my defense fleet, LOL. Seriously, nice detailing in the micro-scale build. Awesome job. It also inspired me to do this: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/385318

Very nice work Tim! I'm also glad to see that you're working on something for Brickworld. I've always felt that contributing to a model like that is possibly one of the highest honors in the field of LEGO. I can't wait to see the final product :-D

Quoting David Roberts A super little micro ship. I like the bit at the back with the vertical 1x2 hinge plates and the handles(or whatever they're officially called) clipped onto them and pointing forwards: a nice detail.
Thanks, David. The clips, (or whatever), were a bit of an afterthought to add that extra detail to the rear. Supposed to look like a short length of piping, perhaps channelling power to the engines. Glad it works for you, and that you took some time from those slopes and the beautiful photos that keep popping up on Flickr to throw some of your well thought out comments on my ship.

Quoting Ian Diller Looks very snazzy!=)
Can I ask for anything more of my MOCs than for them to look snazzy? I think not;) Thanks, Ian.

Quoting Dr. Monster Great MOC. The splash of red is a nice touch.
Thanks, Doc. The splash of red is to add some continuity to the upcoming SHIP.

Quoting Preston Spencer Great build, you should make some escort fighters to go with it!
Hahaha! We'll see. I first have to finish this beastly SHIP that seems to have taken up long term residence in my living room;)

Quoting matt rowntRee You know that you're in the presence of a master of greebles when they can make a five wide WITH greebles and it appears massive. This makes me want to build an entire fleet. Seriously! I don't know how you get such a flowing form with such awesome intimidation in so small a package. I am truly impressed with you work in general, but it's tiny treasures like this that are actually inspiring. Every day I get a bit more antsy about BW, and when I see something like this, I get giddy with laughter. Can NOT wait to see this and the SHIP! Outstanding!
BW is a beast all its own, isn't it, Matt? This will be my first time out, and I'm discovering that the prospect of having your works on location for the community as well as the public to scrutinize is about the best motivator to spend hours laboring over the smallest of details. Antsy is a great word for it. Master? Maybe not yet, but the fact that you said that means a great deal to me. Really does. Thanks for your continued support, and I can't wait to see what you're bringing.

Thanks, Jozsef. Glad you like it. The color scheme may change a bit between now and June, but the shape and the details should remain the same.

Quoting Stephan Schumann Excellent, respectfull fighter. I think they will upgrade the space-field around your bigger ship a great deal. Most I like the embedded cockpit, with the sidepipes. Welldone, really awesome!
Thank you, Stephan! I always try to jam a lot of the useless detail that we like to call greebles into everything I build. I also try to build big. What have I gotten myself into?

Quoting Pico van Grootveld Nice microbuild Tim! I can see a swarm of those beauties flying around that mothership you're building. Lots of details indeed in such a small space. I particularly like those two turrets at the back: those add a nice detail above the engines. Might consider some aggressive looking counterparts perhaps? If there's still time that is of course ;) I suppose you're quite busy! Good luck!
Ah, yes. Time. That will be my biggest adversary here. I am collaborating with another builder for this, and he will be tackling the counterparts. My next step with this fighter is going to be to order the parts to provide several of the same ship. Thanks for the compliments, Pico. Regards from such a top notch ship builder is much appreciated indeed.

Quoting Alex Sonny Nice, the front slope and the overall bulky shape are eally cool and there are lots of details making this an awesome micro model!
Thanks, Alex. Always glad to know what you think. I can always count on you for honesty. The fact that you like it says a lot. And yes, details in a ship this size is always the challenge.
