A34 Comet tank
My new model of the Comet tank, basically an evolved Cromwell.
About this creation
Now I was planning on keeping this off Mocpages for a while, but truth is, I will now steer away from real life models and do more digital ones. But with a twist!! You'll see it all when you scroll down :D

Here's one for historical reference:

The rear...

Engine bay...

now this is why I posted this so early!! I recorded the whole designing process!! It's a long video (17 minutes) but the whole design took me about two hours. It was hard doing it all in one sit, but I pulled through with the help of a certain beverage ;)

I hope you like it, feel free to comment and rate (the video as well!!)

This is a magnificent lego design. The tank is very accurate to the real model. Your LDD video was very good and organized unlike a few I have seen. Keep up the good work.

Hey Sonny, would you mind if you can help me on a World War II/Cold war project? I'd appreciate the feedback.

I loved seeing your mind in action designing your tank, the suspension is brilliant, and the finished product is awesome!

Nice! Looks very similar to Cade's? Cromwell, but I guess that's how it's supposed to be, seeing as the Comet was a Cromwell development.

The tank looks exactly as his original. I think the way you hung the gun very interesting.

Quoting Florida Shoooter Outstanding work Alex! Diggin' the turret. Was your beverage of choice Southern Comfort flavored Kool-Aid? :)
Haha no, we don't have kool-aid here in Europe. It was a very traditional beverage, associated with Germany ;)

Quoting Nick Barrett Great stuff here, and the renderings are remarkably life-like.
Tanks a lot! (Ha-ha) I try to make the models as accurate as possible.

Quoting clayton Marchetti That was awesome watching you build this amazing tank! The tank treads look like a lot of trial and error. Cool suspension technique. I really like how you made the turret ,looks just like the pic. The technic pulley for the hatch looks great. Excellent !
Thanks! The treads certainly take a lot of time and patience to get right, but now I already have the experience to do that. Also, the way the roadwheels attach to the main bricks is weird because LDD lacks certain technic parts I'd need.

Quoting Matt Bace The tank looks great (you can never go wrong with the British desert color scheme)...Another thing I really wish LDD could automate for you would be to create a mirror image of a large sub-assembly. I often have to do that by hand, and it can be very tedious.
Thanks! And yeah, mirroring can be a pain. If there was a way to just copy and flip it, I'd only have to build half a tank :D but it's okay so far, the only thing that matters are the treads and those work both ways.

Quoting killswitch95 [DEMON] hmm as im watching it i was studying it, and i think it would hold up to active play
I even included suspension (of my own design). There are a few bits that could be optimised, but yah it's pretty playable as it is.

The tank looks great (you can never go wrong with the British desert color scheme), but the video is a really neat idea. I only had a chance to watch a portion of it (I'll definitely come back to it later), but I really liked the part with the treads -- I've gone through that same agony myself a few times and I really wish there were an easier way to do it. Another thing I really wish LDD could automate for you would be to create a mirror image of a large sub-assembly. I often have to do that by hand, and it can be very tedious.

Quoting The Krish Cool thanks, maybe we could play a round WoT some day, just add me Krish21 EU-server.
I did. It's nice that we're both on EU. I'd like to play with some people but turns out they're from the US.

Quoting The Krish Ok at first, very nice tank. Second, I love the video. It is nice to see how others build with LDD. For example I start with the hull and the tracks after. And last but not least how do you render your pictures?

Quoting sam the first Great parts usage, a fantastic looking Tank. May I suggest a Challenger cross Chieftain? I's my favorite tank...
wait. A Challenger or a Chieftain? Is there a cross? I know of Chieftain with the new Cobham turret. Anyway, this will be considered a comission if it gets done, contact me by email, because then only you will get the LDD file.

Ahh... the Comet... great memories. Actually I loved the Cromwell even more. Never actually loved the Comet. The Centurion I was one of my favorites though, and the 7/1 is even better. Don't really like the FV4202 that much as the Cromwell nor the Centurion 7/1 but it's still really good. Anyway, the build is awesome as well, and I like the build video. Great job!

You're really good at these tanks! I have a hard time trying to perfect the shape of the swiveling cannon, but you're a pro. Another of your finest! Keep On Brickin'!
