Fantasy 2014 Round 2: Ranger Elegost vs Professor B.: Knashku Dúmarkor
Introducing my best MOC....
About this creation
Hey all!

This is my second entry for Round 2 in the Fantasy 2014 contest.
My talented opponent Ranger Elegost

Our category:
"Micro"
Build a micro scale Castle to a landscape (pretty much saying that you can build anything micro) But you can NOT go over 24x24 so cram as much detail in to it as possible, but don't over do it.

Whew! This was my hardest MOC yet! And my biggest micro ever! One of my older brothers said I should put a lot of rocks in there and have the fortress built into the rock instead of on top of it. And I said, "That'd be awesome!". Well, it was awesome, but boy was stressful. The fortress itself is quite fragile, so whenever I tried to take apart something it would... well... I'm sure you know. I finished it yesterday, and it looks 10 times better than before.

Without the wording. By the way, I made up that name too. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I love to make up names and that one seemed fitting for this evil looking micro castle.

The stairs.

I built a tunnel that the stairs could lead through. Why? Cause it looks cool! ;)

The tunnel can actually pop off so you can see the stairs better.

Lots and lots of rocks! Ma favorite thing to build!

Now let's look at the fortress (which, I may say, is the best part of this MOC). I tried not to go overboard, but I did put a lot of detail into the walls.

The fortress is based off of Baradur and Orthanc from The Lord of the Rings. Though this creation is not one of those two, it has that same menacing look to it.

The gate. Since it's all black, it might be hard to see, but it's there. (Psst, it's in the middle at the bottom)

More pictures of the wall.

Next there's the tower. Notice that the top resembles Orthanc. With this I also wanted to put in as much detail as possible.

When I built the tower, my older brother (the one I mentioned earlier), said I should try to twist it. Well, I did my best, but it was really hard. (For some reason, I think when I took this pic I forgot to twist the tower. In later pics of it you can see the "twist".)

The tower can be taken off the MOC so you can see all of it.

Well, this picture appears to be fuzzier than it was before. Oh well. Some day I'll have my own camera that can take REALLY good pictures.

Sorry about this photo. It looked fine before! Just think of it as: The Evil Leaning Tower of Pisa! :P But even then it shows the detail on the tower.

The top of the tower.

The tower can come apart into 6 different sections allowing you to turn it into whatever shape you want.

A bird's eye view of the MOC.

Proof that I didn't go over the size limit. the MOC is 22x22, but with the base added it's 24x24.

Thanks for looking! C and C are welcome! And best of luck to my opponent!

Soli Deo Gloria!

Quoting Stephen Boe While you have a slew of great technique and superb rockwork, your choice of colors gave the build a bit of a dull feel. However, your opponent's more recognizable, classic, micro feel combined with overall better detail and colors won me my vote.
I do admit that he had more color in his. But I wanted to make mine look dark and evil, so I decided to use those pieces and no others. And I wanted to make a big mini to show that it's actually quite large in minifigure size. However, I understand why you'd give him your vote. His is pretty awesome!

Quoting A M This was very hard to decide, but in the end your opponent got my vote. This is really awesome, though. His color scheme, I think, won me over.
Yeah, his did have a lot more color than mine. Yikes! This will be close!

Quoting Kai Bernstein That looks awesome! The tower textures and designs are splendid! And it's definitely convincing: I was about to comment on what a great microscale it would make...and then saw the category. :P The rocks also look great, but they seem to lack a general direction/feel. Maybe they could be sloping towards the fortress more for a cohesive, climactic effect.
Thanks! Yeah, I getcha. I'll try to remember that. :D

Quoting Owslafa Jones Incredible rockwork and tower, man! You need to get your hands on some microfigs, because that looks like that'd be the perfect scale for them.
Thanks Mr. Jones! :P I would totally do that... if there was no tunnel. But, only 1x1 studs can make it through the tunnel. I had wanted to put an army somewhere in the build, but I didn't have enough space. I'll have to build a mini and put some microfigs in there (since I've got a couple of them).

Quoting Jake Andrews Amazing! The tunnel is a great detail! One day you should try to build this in minifig scale!
Thanks! You know, it's funny you should say that. I had actually thought about doing that earlier today. When I have enough black pieces, I likely will.

Awesome. The rock work is great. Because the stairs are dark grey when you said they were there it took me a few seconds to notice them! Anyway great build , love the fortress and the tower looks like a micro Orthanc.
