MocAthalon 2014: Magic Carpet
It's a whole new world! At least as far as Lego is concerned.
About this creation
Team: Brick Runners

Catagory: Pair Dare: Select two specific kinds of pieces (for example: the 1x2 brick and the jumper-plate) and then create a MOC using ONLY those two specific parts. Feel free to use multiple colors of those bricks but they must be ONLY those two bricks. Choose wisely!

MocAthalon 2014

This was a pretty challenging category, how do you create something that is a cohesive whole, while only using 2 specific parts? And how can you make it unique? So for my build I decided to use an obscure technique that I remembered seeing months ago (As far as I know, it was originally developed by Jonas over on Flickr)

As you can see, this technique allows for a very strong connection, while also retaining an immense amount of flexibility (Just look at the bend!)

As seen here, the technique is essentially 2 clips holding together 2 plates, which are staggered. Pretty awesome to see two pieces that don't have any "legal" connections can be used for such fabulous results!

These are the only pieces (and colors) used in the build, and the whole thing is 34x17 studs diameter (that's larger than some baseplates!

Also, points for the people who can find the two points of asymmetricality ;)

Hey Brian, very cool creation. Nice to see this technique used for something else than water. Best of luck for the MocAthalon!

Magic carpet, using magic pieces, applying a magic technique to organise a magic trip to go to a magic place! Deserve my magic 5! Regret if I am too repetitive.

And no, you don't get extra points just because I was the Genie in Disney on Ice... That being said, you don't NEED the extra points because this is a great build with such limited resources! 5 points ~ Chris.

This is truly a fantastic build, especially because you only used two kinds of pieces. If it means anything, I would give you a 5.

Nicely done, couldn't tell what pieces were used until you showed the bottom view. So why was this 1-smiley'd off the front page?
