Gaius Tarsus Maximus, the greatest gladiator of history, shown here throughout his career in the arenas...
Velites were very lightly armored and carried short swords called gladii. The gladius, Latin for sword, was actually what gave gladiators their names.
The retiarii were known to be clever and quick fighters. They wore little armor in order to dodge attacks and outmaneuver their opponents. The weapons of a retiarius were a trident and a net.
The hoplomachus class was slightly more well-armed, carrying a shield and sword. They also wore a helmet and manica, an armguard consisting of metal plates which could be used in addition to a shield.
Tarsus' final gladiator type: the secutor. This type carried a large rectangular shield and a gladius, as well as relatively heavy armor including a manica and greave, plus a crested helmet. They also sometimes wore a chestplate, unlike most other bare-chested gladiators.
The category we received was Historical Warrior, with a choice of Norse, Greek, or Roman. Although I generally prefer the other two to Romans, I realized that I could make a gladiator, which I immediately began working on. However, I quickly found that I couldn't decide which type of gladiator Tarsus should be, so I created multiple interchangeable equipment sets. That's why all the forms (aside from the fully-armored secutor) don't look exactly like Tarsus. The black (and light blue) represents skin, silver is armor, and brown is leather, plus some black as cloth. Let's hope it works out, though.

Really nice work. I love the unconventionality of the lower legs especially. The cape is well integrated, and the weapons for all versions look great. Also, congrats on beating me in the SMoT.
Thanks man. You put in a great entry - it was a close match. :)
The leg design isn't particularly special, in fact a little more "greebly" than I prefer, but the ancient warrior look created by the cloak, sometimes-asymmetrical armor and arm detailing is great. Nice job.
Here's to hoping your Judges like this MOC set as much as I do. Liked quite a few points, but my surprise fave?- the way those three stacked grey inner thigh technic bracks actually help define a CURVE! Kinda wow, there. Cheers, Chro; best of luck!
What is this, the non-titan week? xD Glad to see less big and more Inika-like MOCs from the people to be honest. <3 Love those three versions of gladiators and the designs you have used on them. My favourite parts have to be the lower legs (the organic look of those short HF bones as armor), the manica (nice design using that angle piece), the cape (specially the chain and the clasp) and that awesome net! <3 Amazing work with the detailing and looks, dear. Good luck in the contest. =3
