MocAthalon 2014: Government Prioritization
Category: Civilian Mecha. Team: Five Bricks of Flame.
About this creation

Who doesn't want a monoped robot to mow the lawn? And as for that floating orange and purple lawn sculpture? It's self-explanatory. Some of you just don't appreciate the arts. You know who you are....

Mmm, burgers.

Refer to this picture after reading the description at the bottom.

The scene without the mecha.

The mecha without the scene.

Believe it or not, this little robot is one of my favorite details of the build.

You might be wondering what the title means. Well, the mecha (government-contracted) is fixing the light post, which is in pristine condition. However, look at the road. (Refer to referral picture now). And that, my friends, is government prioritization. Enough said.

This was a particularly fun build, because I got be whimsical about details of future life. I also enjoyed working with dark blue on the mecha.

C&CC appreciated!
Soli Deo Gloria!

Okay, I'm going to give my utmost opinion on this build and why the Judges seem to be giving out such bad scores. Firstly the robot is a great build, truly got some great detailing in there and I like the broken road with the cracks and stuff in it, although, the other part, with the cafe area, could have been a built with a bit more, but still very good. I don't think this should have desvered a score of 1 at all, I just think the judges a being rather unfair, not only your creation but others as well. So anyway, keep building, because you've defintley got some talent at building :)

The talk of judges opinions being final is all well and good, but they have rules to follow too. Chris devised a marking criteria so judges have a framework to mark fairly, and if judges make decisions without reference to the marking criteria, they can only expect appeals. Worse they damage the MocAthalon's ethos of fun and inspiring builders to develop. In this case, I think your Moc is hard to place in the 1 category; in fact it is pretty good and does show you spent time on it. I feel qualified in my opinion here having been a MocOlympics judge and in my other life marking university student essays for a living. Don't let this get you down, the ethos of the competition can survive a bad judgment.

I am going to agree with Justin, but I want to add a little on he said. The mech is very basic and bluntly speaking, too small. The legs look disproportionately small and the arms look too small for the job it was intended for. Score: 2

The shaping of the mech is outstanding. Great build man!

The little monoped cutting the lawn steals the show. It's killer.

I have no idea what the orange and purple hing it. It has orange and purple on the grass and then it's floating as you say. It's a bird that carps orange and purple gunk? It's a flying garden gnome that hovers above its own legs? Like what is it. I cannot figure it out, and you are not helping by just saying I don't appreciate the arts. Clearly, it is something you have in whatever part of the world you live, but not where I'm from.

The build is great, however I couldn't figure out what your mech was supposed to be doing until I read it at the bottom of your post. Maybe some special arm or something to show us better what it's meant to do would have increased your score. Score: 2

Good build overall but I don't see how the mech is going to fill in those pot holes. The dark blue is a nice touch though.
