It seems that some people think all Rainosians wear the colors red and black, like the new line of Dragon Knights. I answer this with the words of a Rainosian hero: "I wear no uniform! I wouldn't be wearing a shirt at all if it wasn't so cold."
About this creation
Anyway, to correct this misconception I have wracked my brain to create not one but SEVENTEEN residents of our nation who wear anything BUT the color red - in this case, the "Mythronian" color of blue. Plus, tell me which of the Rainosian figures appeal the most, because I'll use the one with the most votes in my next LOM entry.

Characters:

IMAG3101

The first example is the obvious one - a visitor to our shores, commonly known as the "Mythronian Soldier". Boatloads of these blue-coated fellows came ashore last September, only to find that the normally-laid-back inhabitants of Rainos had decided to temporarily crack down on immigration. Despite this short-lived period of hostility, the Rainosian people have now calmed down, and many of these Mythronian soldiers still live, stranded, in the mountains of our eastern coast.

IMAG3102

The next specimen is a group of riders, brawlers, hooligans and non-conformists known as "the Rat Lords". These free spirits flaunt cut-off versions of Mythronian armor as part of their rebellious spirit and roam our island in packs - think "biker gangs".

IMAG3113

Of course, not all people who take up blue mantles in mockery of Mythron are so benign - secret societies, cults and/or brother/sisterhoods have trained themselves in the art of keeping their uniforms bright and clean while staining the outfits of true Mythronians red and purple with blood. Surprisingly, these orders outdate even the Black Lotus or the Rainosian War of Independence, a few going back two centuries to the conquest of Rainos.

IMAG3115

Another military organization that wears blue, although they do not connect it to Mythron's taste in any way except as a running joke, is the archers of the Dark Valley north of Iremore. The people of this agricultural region practice at the butts on day of every week, and, on the occasions that they have gone to war, they have created lethal arrow-storms with their longbows.

IMAG3118

The taste in colors extends to the citizens of the Dark Valley and peaceful people from all over Rainos. From fishermen to elves, mushroom-farming Ilbren and orcs, people see it as any other color - and some look very good in it.

IMAG3119

Among these civilians are the watchmen of some towns and cities. These thief-takers and peace-keepers (local laws do exist in many places) can be regrettably similar to their Mythronian counterparts at times (corrupt and answerable only to those with money) or honorable, enforcing common-sense morality and keeping the demographic of wandering warriors from dying off in bar fights.

In comparison, mages can be self-serving or devoted to the pursuit of knowledge, and, thanks to the Druid's College in Hadran, Rainos has more than its share of these fellows (One of them even tried to take over the world with the help of Dracu, demons, elementals, orcs and a dragon only to come to his senses at the last minute). Anyway, these individuals have a taste for flair and they will wear any color as long as (they think) it looks good on them.

IMAG3121

Dracu Lords and the Undead also rank among supernatural beings with no aversion to this color. Like wizards, the Dracu like to set themselves above the common muck with their garb, and there are so many ancient cultures that any given Undead can be completely dissimilar to another of its kind.

IMAG3122

Finally, blue finds its home in a class of barbarian that is scarcer still: the noble Rainosian knight. When Bartok raised the island in rebellion, tribes and clans were not the only group to join the cause - some of Mythron's hereditary overlords of the land, as with the king, saw the villainy of their ancestral nation and swore their swords to the name of freedom. Members of this rare breed continues to dress by their family colors, and Mythronian blue often ranks among these.

IMAG3123

Oh, I almost forgot to remind you - most Rainosians don't give a darn about clothing at all, and every now and again that goes beyond mere matters of dye...

Fourth Wall

There's not much to say here, since I explained most of what I was thinking at the beginning. I'm also sorry that I didn't take the time to photo-edit these - I was planning to highlight the people featured in each entry to avoid confusion and maybe give the last fellow one of those black modesty rectangles, but I forgot. At least I didn't forget this:

IMAG3124

The prizes for Caleb's Minifigure Contest are in! Even though I only received goodies for winning in the medieval bracket (top figure), there were capes, cloaks and trench coats to spare for my Modern Combat entry, my Space Pirate and Caleb! Thanks for hosting such a great contest, my masked friend - it helped me unlock levels of creativity and a building speed that I didn't know I had.

As for the rest of you, don't forget to tell me which class of Rainosian you would like to see in my next MOC! Seriously - I'll do anything from from the disgruntled hobb... er, Ilbren to the streaker at the end, and next time I'll give him the modesty strip.

P.S. - In regard to the display stand, I wanted to make it rotate at first so that I could cycle through all of the minifigures. Then I thought about how many bricks that would take - a solid plate floor to connect the border to the fill, a SNOT layer on top of that and THEN the loose rock work, not to mention the rotating parts... no, thank you. I settled for re-setting the minifigures five times as if they were spinning.

P.P.S. - That scattered rock technique is an art of its own - fitting all of those parts together smoothly is worse than doing a puzzle with the picture side down.

P.P.P.S. - Yes, the capes in the last picture are customs from Cape Madness on Bricklink. They're a sore temptation against my Purist heart, let me tell you. I'll have to consider the ethics of them in detail before long.

Quoting Ian ... Archers, but that one guy looked like an Average Gnome XD
That's what I was thinking, except he doesn't have the bad taste to do that in red. Two for the archers, one for the rats!
