About this creation
MELO2013-2014
My opponent's entry

“Far over the misty mountains cold. To dungeons deep, and caverns old.”

My entry depicts Smaug lying in Erebor's gold. The base is Bilbo's house with the dwarves singing.

Wow, this is the best Lego Smaug I have ever seen. You got all his features just right. The dwarven architecture is also amazingly done. And I though I had a lot of golden bricks....

Quoting KW Vauban Fantastic, how you kept the dwarven architecture!! I like the walls, the columns, the base ... The MOC is so awesome. I think, I know the winner of the MELO. Good luck in the final.
You are too humble. Good luck to you too.

Overall, a brilliant synthesis of architecture, creature work, character work, composition, and technique. As has been said, your attention to detail is top-notch and is complemented well by a robust visual read that builds up from your ornate base to a brooding diorama of Smaug's lair. You've got my vote!

This is really fantastic work here, the sculpting of the dwarves are great, the architecture is awesome, and Smaug's head is amazing! I really love the idea, I wish you best of luck! P.S. You have a lot of gold!

I was going to mention how well awesome the base is, but that's been said already. I was going to mention how cool the walls look, but that's been said already. I was going to give you kudos for Smaug himself, or for how the whole scene comes together so nicely, or for the amount of shiney gold you have!!! But, that's been said already. Instead, I think you've really captured the Dwarves very well. Good job. (I really hope that hasn't been said before...)

Quoting Mr. Cab The base is genious! I am also impressed at the amount of gold elements you have.
I wish I have more. This is not nearly enough to bury Smaug.

Your attention to detail is impressive here; between the dwarf runes, the dwarf busts, the detailed border, and the dragon head, this build earns my vote. Good luck with the other Judges!

Beautifully done. The details are fantastic. The various shades of gray in the structure and base really make the red and gold pop. The construction of Smaug is very impressive.

Nice! Love the contrast of the vibrant reds and golds against the monochromatic greys of the background. That base really makes it, too. Well done.
