Micro Blue Angels
A micro-scale (roughly 1:200) model of an F/A-18 Hornet.
About this creation
My latest micro-scale aircraft (roughly 1:200) -- an F/A-18 Hornet. I suppose that this build was inevitable, given that I've already done a Tomcat and an Intruder.

I had to go for a radically different solution for the tail section on the Hornet, because it is quite a bit smaller than either the Tomcat or the Flanker (and the stabilizers are set more inboard). Using the angled banner for the elevators (as I did for the Flanker) would have made them almost as large as the main wings, which, clearly, would not be right.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. I really appreciate the support -- it keeps me going.
Quoting Nick Barrett The opening shot looks wonderful - built with great skill and care.
Thanks. You are definitely correct in assuming that the main picture took a little care to create. I briefly considered doing the fleur-de-lis formation instead of the more mundane delta formation, but figured that handling the curving and spiraling smoke trails would have been too much effort.
Quoting Vaclav Mesaros Even before I started just thinking about The blue Angels you built it! Excellent and increadibely fast built creation... It was just a mather of time when you came up with this (imo). What about some WWII micros next-time(?) and in 15 pcs maybe ;). It has been and it is always fun to look forward to your next creation. Your past once are realy inspiring and easy to follow.
Thanks. I might consider doing some WWII micros (in fact I had already started on a Corsair, but aborted it when I wasn't satisfied with the way it was going), but I think I'll have to change the scale slightly -- modern aircraft are quite a bit larger.

Very nicely done. Your inventive use of atypical parts is inspiring. Are those hatchets for horizontal stabilizers? Genius!!

What a clever use of parts to make the jet! It's amazing how astonishing the butcher knives top off the back wings! Keep On Brickin'!
