Micro Optimus Prime & Grimlock – Transformers Age Of Extinction
When you go to see a live action Transformers movie, what should you expect? Plot? No, that’s not it. Meaningfulness? Nope. No, the two things you’re going to get are explosions and G1 references. These films are not meant to be taken seriously, but a true Transformers fan will like them anyway. They bring a sense of renewal to the franchise. These films are stupid, I know. But in the end, it doesn’t matter. I’m gonna see it anyway, I’m gonna think it’s awesome and although it’s not the best film of all time, I’m going to enjoy it. Anyway, after seeing the trailer and the toys (which suck BTW) I just knew I had to build Prime and Grimlock. I didn’t make the G1-like one, though, since I’ve already done a full G1 Prime. Optimus Prime is based on the newer one, while Grimlock is based on the toys I saw pictures of from toy fair 2014. Man, I wish it was July already…

To start off, here’s Optimus Prime in his vehicle mode.

The figure is pretty much a re-tool of my G1 Optimus Prime, just like G1 Ultra Magnus was.

You can see that from the back, there are no pegs for a trailer. If Prime ends up having a trailer in the movie, I’ll fix that. Until then, NO TRAILER.

Here’s a photo of the official first edition Optimus Prime. Quite honestly, the vehicle mode was only ever going to be the good part of the figure (the toy, not my MOC).

Here’s the gif showing how his transformation works.

And here he is in robot mode! I couldn’t really replicate the chest, but it still turned out well.

The robot mode, like the vehicle mode, is incredibly similar to the G1 Prime I built.

Here’s a photo of the official Optimus Prime toy. I’m so glad I stopped collecting Transformers toys five years ago, ‘KUZ THIS LOOKS LIKE A PIECE OF CRAP!

I didn’t build the sword and shield, because that would be stupid. If anything, he should have an axe. Still, I didn’t make one. Instead, I built a gun.

To fit on the gun, you’ll need to fold in the hand…

…like so.

And then it fits right on!

I think it’s time we wrapped up on the blue and red (but now mostly blue) truck and moved onto the T-Rex.

Well, I probably should’ve kept the T-Rex away from the computer. Anyway, here’s the LDD version.

Optimus Prime, like the toy, is now mostly blue. Also, I used the toy colour scheme for Grimlock.

Just a view from the back…

…and I’m done! Don’t forget to like, comment and add me as a favourite builder! And as always, happy building! :)

Quoting Rick Amsler These are very cool! While i am normally very cautious about lego transformers (mainly because many don't actually transform) you blew me away with this good job!

Quoting Richard Hurst i do agree micheal bay is killing transformers, one bot at a time. but these micro formers look amazing in both LDD and your own pieces.
Don't blame bay, he's just making the movies. Blame hasbro for making such b@d designs.
