A micro-scale (1:200) A-6 Intruder dropping its payload of Mk 82 Snakeye retarded bombs.
About this creation
The latest in my set of micro-scale (roughly 1:200) aircraft, an A-6 Intruder. It is shown here dropping its payload of Mk 82 Snakeye retarded bombs.
I'll be the first to admit that this model is far from perfect. The engine inlets are too far back, the cockpit is a little too high, and the wing shaping certainly isn't quite right, but at this scale, I am hard pressed to figure out a better solution.
One thing that impressed me as I did the research to build this model is that the Intruder is not that large, despite its very respectable payload of 18,000 lbs. I have shown it next to my F-14 model to put its size into perspective.
Thanks, everyone! I should point out that the bombs are not built to scale -- I had to build them at a larger scale to get in the details I wanted and then I used a little forced perspective to get the picture to look right. @Clayton: The fuel probe was a very late addition, and I would have been satisfied with the build without it, but I'm glad I figured out a way to get it in.
