>>PROJECT 12<< Pirates!
About this creation
Welcome back to bad editing, mediocre commentary and another creation by Mr. Cab! Presenting to you, the February Build for my project Project 12!

>>PROJECT 12<< is a year-long project of mine in which I, for each month, make a Moc featuring a non-licensed theme by Lego. However, there is a twist: You can vote for which theme I should use! Every month, I put up a list of choices in the Project 12 Group, and others can vote for it! Though this is the build for February, the March voting topic is already up, so come on over and vote for which theme the next build should be based on!

Now, on to the build itself, which features Pirates, the theme that won the February vote. What exactly is going on in the vignette is up to the viewer, but it is quite obviously action-packed: a cannon being lit, a soldier falling off a wall into the raging sea...

Now for some more pictures!

The original Main picture, replaced by the picture I have now because it does not show enough of the moc.

The wall, with a big hole. How the hole came to be in the story of this vig, I don't know. Maybe it was recent, from the last cannon-ball, maybe from a battle three years ago. On top of the wall is a captain and a soldier, fiercely firing back at the ship.

The pirates from behind. The captain of the ship is lighting the cannon, the mate shooting up at the soldiers on the wall.

And the same angle again, but with the wall in focus.

The back of the wall has a nice texture, with the plates not entirely connected, and the dark tan in the grey...

Watch out!

The falling soldier.

Without the soldier. The rocks were inspired by Halhi, and I think I did a good job of recreating his style, which was the first part of this build. I really like these kinds of rocks, but I still want to try several other styles soon.

From another angle.

The hole in the wall. I really like the tan and white combo, as well as how the hole looks.

The three soldiers, with their expressions matching their situations exactly.

The two pirates.

***

Well, this was a fun one! My latest Pick-a-Brick order brought me 519 clear cheeses, and I lost no time in using them here. I tried out new rockwork, and I have never actually done something like this with a wall either, so that was sort of new as well. Overall, I am really happy with this moc, and it was a step up from my last Project 12 Moc. Don't forget to join the Project 12 Group and vote in the March voting topic. I hope you enjoyed it!

Quoting Armon Russ Wow, another great addition to your project. I like that bit of rockwork on the end. And the wall is nice with those scattered tan 1x1s, IMO. Very nice.
They are actually 1x2s, and even 2x2 edge plates. But I only let one end show.

Quoting Kai Bernstein Great work on this! The rockwork is quite nice and the hole in the wall very realistic! The only thing I dislike about it is the distribution of tan in the wall. A pair of 1x2s, one on top of the other and offset by one stud, looks really good in texturing (Halhi's builds have good examples of this). Separate, random, lonely 1x1s don't look so good. :P
I see what you mean. I think I'll take the 1x1 rounds out of the panel rockwork on my next build.

Quoting Lindel Baskin Looks great! You pulled off the water technique very well, and the panel rockwork looks great! There are a couple places where it could have blended better, but overall it's quite good. I love the crack in the fortress wall, as well as the color scheme. Nice work!
Yeah, I have some dark tan showing through the gaps in the rockwork... But thanks! :D
