TT Round 4: The Princess Brick!
The Tilt Round 1 - The Movies. :)
About this creation

Guild: AVERAGE GNOMES!

Category: - The Princess Bride
From the classic movie Princess Bride, build us a scene from one of the two one-on-one duals:
Inigo Montoya vs. Westley (the man in black)
Inigo Montoya vs. Rugen (the man who killed Inigo Montoya's father)
"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"
Only pick ONE scene - not both.

For this round I chose to build the scene where the Man in Black duels Inigo Montoya. I decided to choose one frame from the clip and build it, not the whole scene. Here's the frame. :)

This is my version:

Other shots!

I love the ruins and rockwork. I made the rocks more complicated than I usually do, with lots of cheese, SNOT, and occasional panels. ;)

This rock was the first thing I built, and I really like how it came out.

This is how I did the Forced Perspective in the main shot. Note the panels.

I love this rock way too much... :P

My shot again. :)

Creator's Comments:

Ta-da! I decided early on to use new techniques for this build, like the SNOT ground, rockwork, ruins, forced perspective, and background. I think this build came out well, though I wish it was bigger. I started too small, and by the time I realized the build should have been bigger it was too late to start over. Oh well, I still like the build, and I hope you do too!

A big "thank you!" to the judges for holding this awesome contest, and congrats to the other competitors for making it this far! Good luck to all you! :)

WOW! Great work. that movie is awesome apart from the unneeded stuff (like bad words).

Quoting David FNJ Very nice! I couldn't tell from looking solely at the main picture that it was supposed to be FP. Nevertheless, it now does seem a bit like FP, though I'm still not sold on it. It's probably because of the blocky sun. Besides that, excellent work getting the ruined feel and packing in some great details! I like the SNOT masonry brick section.
Thanks! This comment kinda confuses me... Are you talking about the background being a forced perspective? When I talked about the forced perspective I meant the round ruins in the lower right hand corner of the main picture. ;)
Quoting Mark McPeek Perfect, just perfect!
Thanks Mark! :D

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga Great work! The FP is seamlessly integrated, the rockwork is excellent, and the wall texturing is perfect! My only critique is that the sunset is too glaring, but I know it's difficult to make the subtle variations of a sunset out of plastic blocks :P
Thanks! Yeah, the sunset was toughh.
Quoting Halhi 141 Wow, nice! Great layout, nice stonework, fantastic FP, and interesting sunset effect. I do think that the sunset could still be better though. Good luck!
Thanks a bunch Halhi! :)
Quoting Stephen Boe The forced perspective looks great, especially you managed to achieve two dimensions (the sky and the little round ruins) of FP.
Thanks! I think the round ruins might be my favorite part.

Quoting Stormjay Rider You are using Bonetti's rockwork against me, ah? I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain. Naturally, you must expect me to comment with Capo Ferro!

Quoting David . Incredible, as is pretty much every other build you've made. XD Good luck man! Also, if the man in black wants to win with his left hand he'd better get off his back! http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/91392/13931132715_DISPLAY.jpg
Thanks David! XD That just made my day! XD
Quoting Mr. Cab Very nice! It might have been cool to make the setting sun not a solid color, but trans colors layered, although that's only a nitpick. I really like it!
Thanks! Yeah, that would've been a great idea, too bad I didn't think of it... There's always next time though! ;)
