I got the category "The journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass."

In this scene Gandalf is speaking the quote to Pipin during the heart of the Siege of Gondor, I built that scene or what little I could see of it in the film. Enjoy

Huge thanks to the judges once a again giving their time! Good luck to Zoltan and God Bless.

This is a great build here! Instantly recognizable scene, and some really great techniques in here!

Quoting Grant Davis There actually is a bit of stress on the bricks in this moc, I think because the base is so poorly made it is able to sorta disperse the pressure :P I don't recall any problem with it on this moc, but generally you have to have pretty big tiles to not be able to attach the studs, are you building bigger than this or this same size? Funny you mention my cheese tiles as a tutorial and a bunch of small mocs is my next project :D
Ah; so it /was/ done by stressing the bricks. :P I'm not sure of the size, as I hadn't actually come up with a build for it yet, I was just experimenting with designs. And cool! Can't wait to see 'em!

Quoting Kai Bernstein Just the other day, having been inspired by your work, I was experimenting with cheese mosaics. I tried out this one pattern that looked great but just didn't quite fit. So I looked at some of your mocs to see how you did those mosaics...turns out the design I "invented" is identical to this. So how did you get yours to fit? Mine is just a tiny bit too big; if I squeeze it tight with the bricks around it and reinforce them by layering, it just barely works, but I don't like straining the bricks like that and yours doesn't seem to have too much reinforcement. How'd you do it :P

Beautifully done. Nice use of curved walls and cheese in the floor.

a truly perfect use of the Southern Hemisphere of the Death Star! The way that you layered walls over floors to get the multiple orientations is very clever, and executed nicely; something I am often times too lazy to take the inordinate amount of time to incorporate into a MOC. Great Work!

The clean lines and grey colour scheme remind me of some MC Escher's etchings. I like the way that you've used the Death Star. It would be great if you added your MOC to this group: http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/21377

Quoting Blake Baer Hi Grant, nice work! Your scene is a little bare, and could definitely use some activity, but I really liked the brickwork and challenging curves you attempted. You get my vote!
Thanks for the vote! I will definitely give Gandalf a hat and upgrade what the figs are doing a little bit once judging is done. All the fig stuff was done in under an hour, it is definitely not how I would have liked.

Haha, yeah, Eli still has his hat from this creation: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/379062 He gave back my rocks he used but not that one piece from the figs. I didn't realize it until it was too late either :P
