LOM Free Build: Taking Some Time Off
Thanks for viewing! God bless.
About this creation
So, I've been wanting to get better at landscapes, so I figured a LOM FB would be the way to go, haha. I focused on the rocks and layout, and tried editing on Pixlr. Still shaking my head over this one; why couldn't I build in round 3 of The Tourney like I'm building now? :P

Anyways, this is just my character taking some time off and going on a little trip. Woo-hoo, so in-depth eh?

Thanks very much for the advice, Tim! I agree with everything except for the rocks - I think I did those fine, but of course, I have not perfected any area of my building. Thank you again!
  February 20, 2014
Hey Alex! nice job on the creation. Hope I can give you some constructive criticism: I feel like the waterfall looks a little bit static - if you have any trans 1x2 plates, they work a lot better for waterfalls. And another tip, if you put white bricks behind the waterfall it'll give it a frothier look through the trans clears. I agree with Adam that your trees are a little scrawny. Try adding more branches and leaves (I don't know how many leaf pieces you have, but use as many as you can!). If you want to get some angles for your leaves sticking a seaweed piece at the top of your trees and inserting limb elements over top works great! Also the ground looks a little flat in my opinion - if you add some more plates it'll give more texture to the creation rather than making it look kinda like a two story build ;). The rocks are really well done, but they look a little bit like a textured flat slab - just my opinion. I think it'd work better if you gave some shape to the cliff and had it jutting out in large chunks in some areas, or on the corner. Doing so would add more depth to the scene and make it more interesting to the viewer. Anyways, nice job overall and I hope that this helps - I'm nowhere near a master of landscapes, but I give what advice I can. Keep on Bricking!

Quoting Adam Brunsting The rocks are great! However, the rest of the landscape is not great. Near the river should be brown or tan, the foliage looks weird in clumps, and the trees look scrawny. The waterfall is alright, but not the greatest. I don't know how you could improve it though. Great start to landscaping though!
I agree with everything you said. I really need to work on my foliage, trees, and water.

Quoting Professor B. Nice rocks! I think that, now this is just me cause I like to be as precise as possible, the water should look a little more active at the bottom. Like, maybe some ripples around the waterfall. Does that make sense? I can't really think of any other words that would make it more understandable. But, that water is still awesome! :D

Thanks, Kai! Yes, I agree. I think I need to really re-think my water as it has been the same since I bought 500 of those 1x1s. Sadly, I don't have any other pieces (basically) for water. Maybe I should try loose. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks very much, Lindel! Yes, I just can't seem to get my foliage right. It's either too overgrown or too bare. But I'll probably go on Flickr and get inspired and everything will be good :P Thanks man!

The water is mediocre, and the ground looks bare where you didn't put foliage. If this was condensed into a much smaller scene, it would be excellent. Hope this helps in future :)
Thanks Thomas! That helps very much. I do have the foliage to cover all the ground, but I've heard from Halhi and Freeling that overgrown like that doesn't look so good. However, in a creation like this, I think it would look good. Thanks for the advice!
