A Crash Course in Chimera Killing
A would-have-been face-off MOC for the 50-50 Challenge's final round against Callum Lincoln. I sadly was unable to photograph the MOC in time, but here it is now.
About this creation
Gosh, it's been such a long time!!

The four-headed beast of doom is here! Can Octharius the gladiator hold his own against this mighty creature?

Apparently he can!!

Creator's Commentary:

This is an alleged face-off MOC (see what I did there? :P). After the 50-50 Challenge on MOCpages, Callum Lincoln and I decided that we'd do a face-off, with Chro as the judge. Sadly, I had not been able to post the Chimera MOC any sooner due to having so much on my hands at uni. The Chimera was finished completely on the 12 of November 2013, some 1.5 months from when Cal and I decided to do a face-off. So think of this as an apology, Cal, for not having posted it sooner. It was a pleasure competing against you, and I will see you again... on the building grounds!!!

The initial concept was going to be used for the earlier rounds of the 50-50 Challenge, where I was going to use only two of the 4 heads, the lion head and the goat's head. The idea was to create a "precious metal chimera" with just the lion and goat, but I think this turned out a whole lot better.

Octharius was just a display dummy to compare the chimera to an average hero build, but I figured I might as well build a decent-looking MOC and have a bit of fun with it. I happen to like the ideas used on him; the asymmetrical armor, and the visor, and stuff.

So that's all I have the time for today! C&C is definitely welcome, so please don't hesitate to let me know what you think!

Your Chimera is really fantastic. So colorful too.

Still can't see too much of him due to the Chimera at the background, but now I can see better. Nice shield ;3 Well, my favourite chimera MOC until now has to be Margdyr from Dark Crusader, though it does not follow the regular chimera pattern, like Galaxus' Cythraul. If you talk about the classic chimera, Phosphorus' 2013 BioCup Round 5 entry is a massive and impressing example of organic and detailed work. It doesn't use the parts so brilliantly as you, but you have to recognize the impressive work behind that thing, dear =P

Quoting Commander CJ Potter I must say I agree with L.A., this is one of the most well made MOCs I've ever seen! I absolutely love the unique part usage on this Chimera.... To be honest this is the first Mythological creature I've seen (Other than dragons which are quite common:P) I had not ever thought of something quite as big or cool as this....I also must commend you on your variety of colors. You matched the colors, and somewhat kept them confined to their creature. Red: Dragon, Yellow/Gold: Lion, Silver: Ram, Brown: Snake. I cannot get enough of this awesome build, this is just such a cool idea. One last comment before I stop my rant, I like your Self-MOC. He shares some similar traits like mine, Any-who again I love this MOC and remember this: Never give up, Never give in always fight on until the end. Commander CJ Potter
Cheers!

Quoting L.A. Miranda Well, well, well... My dear Marei, you never cease to surprise me! What an amazing creature! Last year I saw a lot of chimeras, and while this one is not the best of all of them (a great one, indeed, but not my favourite, sorry =P), this one has probably the best part usage I have seen. The best of this one has to be the heads. Everyone of them has been developed with a magnificent use of parts and caring about every single detail -specially the lion one-, even the snake at the tail has poseable jaw! My favourite one is the dragon (love the use of those Ta-Toa masks), but all of them are absolutely remarkable. To be honest, I find all this building pretty epic and remarkable... except for the front legs. While they're similar to the back ones, working fine in that sense, they're quite raquitic for a lion and a dragon leg. Still, the entire building is impressive and far of what I could even try. So I tip my hat and give you the 5 smile faces xD Also, I can't see too much of Octharius, but love the head. Amazing work, dear! <3
Hahaha, thanks a lot, Miran'! I'm always waiting for a comment from you for some reason :P Personally, I think the dragon arm is a bit iffy, but I truly like the lion's arm, down to the very lionesque paw. That aside, would you please tell me which Chimera is your favorite? Maybe I can derive some much-needed inspiration? :P I'll be posting more pics of Ochtarius, but for now you can look here for more: http://www.flickr.com/photos/darksiderz_photostream/12372425183/in/set-72157640652410904
