Well here it is my fourth entry to the 2014 Middle Earth Lego Olympics! The category gave me a chance to build a Shelob which is something I have been wanting to attempt for a while, I also knowing my oponents tendency to go huge ( and you didnt dissapoint Kw! :) ) I thought I would try to go as large as I could, and I litterally used every last one of my dark grey rock pieces. Well please take a good look and check out all the small details. Thanks everyone!
About this creation
Bracket: Barad Dur
Category: Naughty little fly, why does it cry? Caught in a web soon to be eaten.
Here is the link to my more than worthy oponnent KW Vauban and his massive entry.
Here is Shelob herself! I wanted to get away from the classic Shelob design and go for something a little more accurate. I spent a lot of time sculpting that back side I think it paid off.
Well thats it thanks for viewing everyone! KW I wish you the best of luck you really put your all into this round and it looks like it will be an intense match. Oh and if you have any constructive criticism for me please let me know. Thanks again!
I've been putting off judging this one for long enough. It's a 49 to 51 split in my mind. Your spider and overall presentation vs. all the other elements of KW's build. In the end, I think KW just edged you out...but man was this a difficult call to make! Hold your head high Justin (and if you want even more details as to my decision, I went a little more in depth on KW's post). Cheers.
This is a difficult match up because it comes down entirely to subjective interpretation of the category and builds. I was blown away by Justin's Shelob, but KW has some exceptional rock work (which I am always partial to). Justin's Shelob came close to swinging the vote, but my vote goes to KW on account of the scale that he attempted.
Best shelob's lair and shelob I have ever seen. Everything works amazingly. I only have one nitpick, and it really doesnt matter. I would have made her mandibles black, since that was the color they were in the movie. Everything else is perfect!
No seriously, this is awesome! The scenery is perfet, there's not too many studs nor plates, nor rocks or dirt! I've been waiting for something awesome from you Justin, and this is it!! It's just so much... WIN!!
And Shelob is beast. In both senses of the word!! Great work, and good luck. This WILL be close. (And if it's not, I poo-poo the judges)
