I have to admit I was not very happy with this quote. I had always disco86‘s great entry from the last year in my mind. I was short in time - as always. So I begun to build a cave to have an entry at least. Shelop followed and … I had an idea: the tower of Barad Dur in microscale as attempt to use forced-perspective.
When this was done, I thought: These white strings … what can I do with them? Of course … a web. So I started building a big tree as long as I had reddish brown bricks ;).
Frodo on his way through the mountains.
He passed the bones of some really unlucky beeings.
His enemy is looking for him.
The singer ...
Shelob, the dangerous.
The big tree: a spider will have diner with a fly ...
Barad-Dur as the link between the two parts of the MOC
Well, I've been putting off judging this match-up for long enough...it took me forever to decide. It's 51 to 49 split for me. I've leaned both ways multiple times. Justin's Shelob is absolutely incredible, I like his strong relevance to the category with Frodo "caught in a web", and the overall appearance of his build is much more satisfying. However, with the exception of spiders, your build displays superior building skill. Your rock-work is drop dead gorgeous, your forced perspective (tying the two sections of your build together) is inventive, and I like how you included the fly in the web--a nice nod to the category. In the end you get my vote, but only by the narrowest margin.
This is a difficult match up because it comes down entirely to subjective interpretation of the category and builds. I was blown away by Justin's Shelob, but KW has some exceptional rock work (which I am always partial to). Justin's Shelob came close to swinging the vote, but my vote goes to KW on account of the scale that he attempted.
Another great MOC! I personally think thta this one is better than the one by Justin Knelsen. The structure of the rocks is even better, the tree is just amazing. I don't think this scene can get any better!
Oh my Goodness! You really went all out on this build, its fantastic! The rockwork and trees are excellently done. I should be uploading my entry later tonight or early tommorow morning. Good luck, this will be one interesting match. :)
