USS Sulaco - LDD finished
The USS Sulaco from the movie Alien II. After round about 2 years, blood and tears - here i present you the finished LDD planing status of the model.
About this creation
Like i did use a blueprint for the USCSS Nostromo , i did it the same way for this model, to come close enough to that what i want...

And that's the result:
about 9600 pieces make this 170studs / 1,34m long
Note: all the trans pieces (turntable and lever) shouldn't be there, but in LDD you can't delete parts from parts...

above

the sideview

underside

front

back

from overall behind

the engine

the engeine again

the 2 H 800 MEV neutral particle beam weapons (Disable electronics, range 100,000km)

the laser turrets

the asas module

the docking bay for the dropship

the kinetic energy railgun on the underside

the kinetic energy railgun on the top

one of my personal favorite parts... where the hull gets narrower... ;-)

the frontside closer - with the name (It's no painting ;-) ! )

also the frontsection of the hull gets narrower and was tricky to do. I think it turned out really better as in my first version 2 years ago.

the antenna area - i really hope this will work for real... because only this section is about 25/30cm long...

little greeble on the front-under-side

a gimmic - the dropship in miniversion...

and last but not least 2 overall views ;-)

Maybe it would be fine to built this model in dark grey, but unfortunately Mr.Kelso did buy all for his "Eye of chaos"...

I hope you like it ;-)

And watch out - it will become a real model !!!
I hope to start this one soon, but first i have to sort some bricks...

Update 20.02.2014:

The grid is nearly finished :-)

And that's how i do it this time - without instructions...

wow this was blocked...

Quoting Achintya Prasad Excellent work man! The details are simply staggering; truly a masterpiece. I can't wait to see the real version; how long do you think the build will take?
Thanks - I hope that i can finish it the next few weeks, it depends on how many pieces i have to order...

Quoting Tim C Really nice work, Mihe. Some fantastic elements and details throughout. I love that round feature in the center. Very intriguing. The overall shaping makes for such a great look. Is this going to be another ABS project for you? I hope so. It would be nice to see this in the brick. Great job!
Thanks! - and yes i started building yesterday... ;-)

Quoting Matt Hanson I was in the Marines and let me tell you what would not have happened: a ship this size and only ONE Platoon of Marines aboard. Anyone else find that weird? Oh, well. Guess they had to make a story. All jokes aside this is a great build from one of my favorite movies. I don't see that many mocs from the Aliens franchise. Amazing build!
Thanks and watch out for the real one ;-) ! to your first point: Maybe they will have autopilot in the future ;-) too many crewmembers are to expensive only for Alienfood :-)

Quoting TF Twitch Yet again, you have created another superb build. You should have kept the Nostromo in tact so that these could be seen next to each other.
Thanks - unfortunately that's not possible, because i need the parts...

Quoting killswitch95 [DEMON] mihe i cant make instructions if i dont have a file to make them from, and plus i wanna clone them and have a sulaco army in LDD just to get some chuckles from ;)
Sorry - i thought you will make logical instructions, which for i also would pay! But the instructions made out of LDD are not that what i want... So i'm really sorry, but i don'T like to share this work before i didn'T built this MOC and have a look if it really works in bricks (weight, strengh, etc...)

Quoting killswitch95 [DEMON] alrighty, well before any of these programs get to pumping out so instructions, they need to know what they are making them for, you know
i understand not really what exactly you mean... i meant that LDD isn't really good for creating instructions, because it put a lot of parts anywhere in the "air" and than throws the next 50 parts in between, so that you can't follow where to put what piece...

o.k. ... i tried the instruction-function of LDD before => that doesn't good in all cases! you could not follow the plan the program makes... MLCad is an better program to handle such big MOCs, but i couldn'T handle MlCAD... !

Quoting matt rowntRee That, sir, was well worth the wait. I am so impressed with all your shaping on the hull fore and aft. The round engine section is truly a work of art. I felt my heart drop when I read that you disassembled the Nostromo; however, if this will be realized in brick as a result, I can't wait. AGAIN! XD Fantastic work Mihe! You really have done some serious justice to the "Alien" universe.
Thanks Matt! And trust me - i also cried by dismantling the Nostromo, but i have to save the money... And i have made a picture-instruction - so i could easily build the Nostromo again ;-) !

Quoting Dave Benson I think it would look way better with a combination of dark/light-bluish grey. Black is cool, but it makes the contours a bit too flattened. You nailed the overall shape of course! But man...9600 parts? Haha that would make any Xenomorph head explode! ;)
Thanks - i think the black makes it more horror looking and i have the most parts of my Nostromo-project...

Quoting David Roberts 9,600 bricks is an incredible effort in LDD. I can't imagine how kept track of the different groups and connections. It's an impressive build, both in the way that it looks and the effort to complete it.
Thanks - i did some sections in different ways of the conection - maybe i take some pics while building it.

Quoting Nick Barrett YES! Wonderful work, and it looks magnificent, including the lettering :-) It'll cost a bit to make in bricks but it WILL be worth it!
Thanks! Yes it will take some time, because also for this model an instruction about LDD isn't easy to generate! But i did built it in many little sections to handle the rebuilt in real bricks easier than as on the Nostromo... And for the cost - the Nostromo is dismanteld, where the most pieces are from, so i hope it will not be too expensive ;-)
