The Tourney Round 3: Stephen Boe vs. Thomas of Tortuga
Bracket: Wrestling
About this creation
The Tourney

My opponent: The formidableThomas of Tortuga

Guild: Average Gnomes

Category: The Ultimate Test
For your final challenge before The Tilt, you gotta give it all you got in this Ultimate Test. A lone fortress of some of the roughest bunch of men and human-like creatures acts as a headquarters of sorts for these type of people. They work for money, and no one has dared enter their small area of territory. Only legends tell of what goes on inside the fortress. The leaders of this fortress agreed to being part of a Tourney event. Your task is to go to the fortress, retrieve some sort of valuable item, and escape. If you get caught you lose.

Destrian slowed his breathing. He crouched under the cover of a pine tree, next to a ruined wall of the fortress. His task was simple: infiltrate the bandit controlled fortress without being caught, retrieve some sort of valuable item, and escape.

He scanned the area. One bandit stood at the opening of the ruined wall, another stood on the wall itself, and another on a higher section of the fortress.

The bandit on the wall turned. Destrian siezed his chance and sneaked his way towards the rock wall and then began to climb.

As an archer, Destrian was easily light-footed. As quiet as a cat, he made his way onto the wall.

Swiftly but silently, Destrian cupped his hand to cover the man's mouth as he delivered a swift knock to the head, knocking the bandit out.

Aftter Destrian laid the man on the ground, he began to scale the vines covering the adjacent wall.

There was another bandit scanning the region. Destrian crept towards him, careful to not make a single sound,

Destrian knocked the man out with a blow to the temple, catching the sword as it fell, to avoid startling nearby bandits.

He set the body down, and walked to the edge of the wall. There was a small tower atop a large rock several yards away.

A crazy idea came to his mind.

Destrian jumped. He swung his sword down hard at the window, hoping he could crack his sword through. The window was loosely connected, so instead the whole window itself came out and the sword hooked onto the windowsill.

Destrian climbed up and fell through the window, barely getting a glimpse of a few small items that made up the tower's only contents.

He stood up and examined the items. There was a precious bleu jewel and two statuettes, one carved from stone and the other crafted from bronze.

Destrian took the jewel, as it was obviously the most valuable item there. He crawled out the window again, and prepared to climb his way down the rock.

As he made his descent, he slipped on one loose rock and fell onto the cobbled pathway below. He dropped the sword as he went down, and it made a loud clattering sound which alerted the bandit at the front of the fort.

Destrian snatched up the sword and blocked the slash the bandit made at him.

He then kicked him away -

- and began to run towards the dense forests by the fortress.

The bandit recovered, and began to chase Destrian.

Destrian swung his sword down to the ground and stuck into the ruins -

- causing the bandit to trip. With the time he bought himself, he made his way into the forests and back his way to Carthal.

Quoting Kai Bernstein Great job! I love the general design. Nifty rockwork and very cool idea with the piraka spine as a small tree. There's just one discrepancy, and that's the jump to the window: smashing that window right out of its frame would surely shatter it and make a very loud noise. That would immediately alert the guards. :P
Thanks Kai! Yeah, there are quite a few discrepancies.
