as suggested by Scott Bertaut, I downsized the vending machines.
About this creation
I thought they where maybe a little oversized for the fig scale,
but, Scott confirmed it by his honest critical comments,
here, it s adjusted, what do you think?
is it ok?
without the figs...
CREATOR S LOG;
expect more from me, if it s not right, please just say so,
I m very open about it, don t act as my mother and say it s fantastic everytime,
I want honest feedback, and you can expect the same from me.
Oops, fixing my grammar error in my old comment made it in front of your reply! Oh well...
As far as stickers go, you can buy sheets that you stick through the printer for pretty cheap. This is what I do, although I really need to start putting tape over them as printer toner wears off rather quick when my cars slide across the floor (That ramp got put there by accident, I swear!)
They still look rather tall, but if you consider the fact that a real life Minifig would probably have a height of 4 feet, they are spot on (I normally like to scale things to the height of a Minifig standing on a brick, although my cars are normally just built for maximum detail). You should add some fancy "Soda!" stickers to them now!
Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist
thanks Luke! while it s on Alta-5, I want some light earth references to feel you re there, it helps for immersion, so, I want some things to be familiar, those machines fall in that category.
Quoting Topsy Creatori (StoveTopCreator!)
thanks Topsy! it means a lot to me that it s as close as possible to the real thing, I m thrilled that you ll use the mushrooms idea! you can bet I ll support your product in my machines!
Quoting Dr. Monster
thanks Doc! ha, ha, that would be awesome! xd, I expose my work to the public, I d be crazy to expect that some people can t imagine better. for my stories, I d like them to enjoy it, that means I have to make the best possible scenes and work that I can!
I really like both. You know me... the size of the others didn't even cause me to flinch! Hey, I want to really thank you! Your comment on the mushroom opened up a real story area for me that I have completely gotten taken into. I have already written the story lines for about 4 potential builds for The Insurgency based on the mushroom theme! I just hope my building skills are as good as my writing and imagination, so that I can pull this all off! Hint, hint... I might even have an interesting commodity that could potentially be sold in your vending machins... ha, ha! ;)
Nice update. I liked the size of the machine on your last page. It felt like the company behind the product was this huge powerful corporation and the consumer was just some helpless pawn. But these machines look much more realistic. It's cool that rather than get defensive about it, you listened and ended up growing from the experience. (Now I want to build a giant evil vending machine that hunts people down and forces them to buy stuff.)
Quoting matt rowntRee
thanks Matt! more colorful is a great suggestion, the leds will be more difficult, I admit that I m not sure I can pull it off, I d need to find leds with batteries...but, it would rock for sure!
Great style and shape. The scale seems spot on for the figs. I love all the suggestions read below, I think you could pull all of them off. I think my only suggestion would be to use more of Lego's vibrant colors instead of the primaries and especially white. Vending machines are designed to stand out in an almost obnoxious yet appealing way. Red is Coke, and blue is Pepsi. Everyone on the planet has been conditioned to identify that. See how orange or purple looks. Bart's idea of the lights is brilliant, but rather than backlighting it, if you could get a single LED into the front top just behind the glass, it'd make the product inside pop. Excellent!
Quoting Bas Wijkstra
tanks Bas! very good critic! tinted is nt the best, I ll change that in the future, we don t get to see the products clearly, buttons on the tiles will be added, as for 5' you re right, but, I ll have to figure a way to snot the side panels, several products will be added too, I ll do it!
Quoting clayton Marchetti
thanks Clayton! excellent suggestion! I thought of that too, but, since it s Alta-5, I don t want to put earth brand names, a lego one could be fine though, hopefully, with time, they will release something, in friends perhaps?
Quoting El Barto !
thanks El barto! you re brilliant! I had the idea to do so, but, as you said, it s pretty difficult, I would have had to leave the back of the machines open, or, put clear parts there, then, put the lights behind, my bug... is that I wont be able to do it everytime, as, most of the time, there will be only one machine...
Maybe I'm wrong bud is that smoke glass? I think clear would be more realistic.
Also would like to see several products in one machine not just one.
That having said the 1x1 tile should have buttons.
Also their kind of wide maybe try 5 studs, don't know how that turns out though.
Just my humble opinion, you asked for it.
Okay, so, you want some suggestions...I like how they're built, but it would have been nice to have the inside of the machines back lit. I like the lighting effect from above, gives it a kind of Blade Runner look to it. No idea how to do it, just that's what I suggest ;)
Quoting David Roberts
thanks David! not all the design must be credited to me, my first one was inspired by Jasper, an artist who no longer post anything here, but, very talented in the city props, the change bit is from him.
