TTR3: Jacob Pennington vs. Warble Gloaming

About this creation
My opponent is the talented Warble Gloaming and his wonderful entry is here .
Guild: Crimson Knights
Bracket: Foot Combat

- The Smithy
If you want to fight, you need weapons…and good ones too. During the Tourney, the smithy is bustling with activity. The recent craze, while profitable for his business, has not helped the local blacksmith’s temper. Will you be able to sweet-talk him into making new weapons for you and your men, or will a confrontation ensue?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After confrontation after confrontation with opposing guilds, my men were becoming shorter and shorter on weapons. So I decided it was time to take a trip to the local smithy and restock. After asking around, I finally found his shop near the edge of Carthal. I approached him with high hopes.
Me: Hello there, good sir! I humbly beg-
Blacksmith: Leave! Tis my day off! I've worked my fingers till they've bled for this tournament of yours! I just wish to rest in peace today!
I was caught off guard. Surely a smithy would be happy in such times of good business, but this one appeared to be quite hateful of the whole ordeal.
Me: But sir, my men cannot battle with broken swords and dented armor.
Blacksmith: Not my problem! Do you see my hands? They haven't see rest since the week before last!
Me: But good blacksmith, I can offer payment. And a large sum, too!
I gestured behind me with a wave of my hand, and two Crimson Knights of mine appeared towing a large brown chest, filled to the brim with gold, gems, and diamonds. But the blacksmith seemed unimpressed.
Blacksmith: Bah, I've been given gold and gems like that day in and day out! I have enough of it to go live the rest of my life! I do not need more at this time. Go away!
Me: But sir, I beg it of you! Please help my men!
Blacksmith: You think you're the first to come here asking that of me? I've had so many ask me that, I can't even sit down to take of sip of my favorite brandy!
Then, a small smile crossed my lips.
Me: Brandy? Do you have much of it?
Blacksmith: After my brandy now too are you?! No, I haven't much!
Me: I can offer you the tastiest brandy to ever touch your lips, if you so desire it.
The blacksmith raised a suspicious eyebrow.
Blacksmith: Um...I, uh....Okay, what year?!
Me: Unopened from the Year of Unbinding.
The blacksmith nearly fell over backwards, shocked at what he just heard.
Blacksmith: What!? That's some of the rarest in the world today!
Me: So, will you forge our weapons?
Blacksmith: You've got it, lad! What do you need?
Me: A dozen greatswords, two dozen short swords, ten spears, two hundred arrow heads, and partridge in a pear tree.
Blacksmith: It'll be a while, but you'll have them! I'll get started right away! And when you return, bring as many bottles of that brandy as you have!
Me: You have my word, good blacksmith!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tonto: Make trade, kemosabe.

Blacksmith: For the last time, I do not fix or forge pocket watches! And stop feeding that bird! It's not alive, you know!

Creator's comments:
And there it is folks! My round three build! I had a hard time figuring out how to make the base. I literally tried out at least 3 or 4 different techniques that I'd never tried before, and I'm pretty pleased over all. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it, and please remember to rate and comment!

Excellent. The base is unique, and the textures of the roof and well are nicely done. The curved wall gives this creation a nice touch.

I think this is probably the hardest combination I've had to judge in the entire contest so far, and that's why I'm going to be giving the same comment to both of you. In Warble's entry, I love the tree and the little wall around it, but I feel like his landscaping doesn't flow as well as it could of. In Jacob's, I really like his round border, and all the little details around his smithy, but I think the ground needed some work, mainly getting rid of the cracks. But, in the end, my vote is gonna be going with Jacob.

While I loved your opponent's blacksmith shop a bit more than yours, your scene was more complete and packed with fitting details from all angles (even though I think there are too many large gaps for the ground). In the end, you have my vote! Good luck with the other judges.

Nice design - the roof and circular base design are great! The stone texturing and cobblestone pavement are a little messy, though. 2x2 tiles don't generally look good used that way.

Awesome! I love the rounded border!

Aak... I almost forgot to mention my second-and-third favorite parts of the build. The first, which is my second-favorite, is how you did the bottom of the door, mixing SNOT with studs-up plates for that narrow strip. The other is the extra scene at the end.

I think the curved foundation made this MOC. The house's textures were very good but not my favorites and the white showed through the cobblestone, but the circular base showed the thought that went into this. Good work, and good luck with your judges, Jacob.

Very nice! There is a lot to like about this MOC. For starters, the circular base really sets it apart. The use of slopes laid on their sides to create a cobblestone-like surface also work very well, and I really like the walls and roof of the building. Good luck!

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 great scene, cool story, funny, although the base looks good as a stand alone piece, I felt it hurts the story a bit though, as you could have added better angle pics in the dialogue, I feel some restraints from your part to show the rest of the scene while the characters conversed, I would have enjoyed to see the characters walk around that superb shop in the conversation, if possible, try to avoid big bulk of text in the stories, you added tons of wonderful details on your scene, like the weapons, which we don t get the chance to see up close, + it gives you the chance to show the characters s reaction in the conversation, you made a great script, but, we have to imagine their physical reaction when we read, it s great as it is, but, you have the potential to make it rock! I can t wait to see your next piece!
Thanks for the advice cyberfrank! :)

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga The base looks wonderful, as does the building! The story is short and sweet (probably a good thing) and the well design is very nice. My only critique is that having an interior might have helped.
