The Hero of Avalancia - Chapter Three: Home of the Horse Master
About this creation
Early in the wee hours of the morning, when the sun is just peeking out over the horizon, and the dew is shining in the grass like thousands of little diamonds, our heroes set out from where they were and made their way to Avalancia. Coated in the "invincible armor", Sir Jalton of Avalancia was feeling pretty confident, yet wary of the future. So, with his guidance, they made all speed to a small farm of a friend where they could find refuge, a place to sleep, and maybe a few horses. But upon arrival, Jalton and company are surprised to find it already occupied by a Dracovian soldier. But Jalton knew this was no ordinary soldier...

Soldier: Well, if it isn't my old friend, Sir Jalton of Avalancia. Its been a long time.

Jalton: Not nearly long enough, Tenabrook. And our friendship expired long ago.

Penelope: Tenabrook?! General Tenabrook of Dracovia?! The leader of all of Dracovia's armed forces?!

Tenabrook: Aye, lass. That be me.

Farmer: This maniac is demanding that I donate some of my horses to his filthy war?! I won't do it Jalton!

Jalton: Nor will you have to. This is Avalancia you're in now, Tenabrook. You have no power here.

Tenabrook: Wrong again, Jalton. As I'm sure you don't know, we are exactly on the line that separates our nations.

Jalton: Then neither of us can persuade, or force, this farmer to do anything. Also, his alliance is with Avalancia, not you.

Tenabrook scowled at Jalton and began to walk slowly up to his side. Jalton grasped the hilt on his sword, ready to defend. But Tenabrook merely spoke in a low whisper so only he could hear.

Tenabrook: Soon, there will be no line that separates Dracovia from Avalancia. The Shadow King is on the move, as is his army. You are all going to die. Dracovia will rule once again. But a different fate awaits you, Jalton. The Shadow King wants to destroy you personally for killing Gripora.

Jalton: You used to be a knight for Avalancia, a warrior for the light. Don't let what happened so many years ago persuade you to make the wrong choice.

Tenabrook: Don't lecture me! The past is the past! I will have my revenge! As will Dracovia! It is set in stone!

Tenabrook shoved past Jalton without saying another word and trudged away from the farm.

Jalton:(Whispering) Nothing is set in stone, my old friend...

Penelope: What was that all about?

Jalton: Nothing, just a conversation between old friends.

Penelope: I though you said you weren't friends!

Jalton: Sometimes, I like to think we still are.

Jalton: But on to more pressing matters. Farmer Cason, you said he was after your horses?

Farmer Cason: Yes Jalton! He threatened to take them all for the war!

Jalton: We're already at war. Did he mention anything about an army? Or perhaps an invasion attack?

Farmer Cason: That he did! He said once Avalancia fell, if I wanted any place in the new world, I should give my horses to the effort. And by effort I'm sure he meant some kind of attack soon to come! He told me the Shadow King was on the move, and that his fury and might would topple Avalancia!

Farmer Cason: But I still denied him! My horses are my most precious possessions! I would sooner die for them than let them use them for murder and chaos!

Jalton: Well done, Cason. But perhaps you can lend a few horses to an old friend? The Avalancian capitol is many leagues away from here, and we must make haste.

Farmer Cason: Yes! You have my support! Stop them before they kill us all! Come inside! I'm sure we can come to some type of agreement!

Jalton: Indeed. Then let us waste no time!

While everything about this series is excellent I only have two criticisms. 1) is it really necessary for them to be holding their gear ALL the time? 2) Use less exclamation marks please. It kind of kills the story quality.

Looks great! That roof technique is pretty hard to make, but you built it to perfection! I've attempted it a few times, but it has never come out the way I wanted it to, like this. Awesome job!
