Whoa, am I not dead on mocpages? For now, no! I'm running a super sweet, super popular, and super YOU WIN A PRIZE IF YOU WIN contest on mocpages right now called the SELF-MOCOFF TOURNAMENT! Click the link, the contest has already started, but you have PLENTY of time to get an entry done for Round 1! Good luck!
Onto this moc: It's an older moc of mine, built back in June 2013 for the BBCC65 on BZPower. The category was to make a bird. Final voting took place at brickfair, where the public and anyone else could vote! I took first place prize (3 sealed vahki and a BZP premier membership), so it was a crowd favorite! My Bane Mask (look at my page, most popular moc of mine on MP) also got nominated for Best Bionicle, but lost by about 10 votes to DViddy.
The full set of pics for this moc can be seen here.
Commentary: I decided pretty early that I wanted to make a parrot. I made the head first, which came out great, then started working my way down the back, focusing on the shaping on the back. I figured out how to do the wings pretty quickly, and then did the same thing for the tail. (Having both Jetraxes actually paid off somehow!) I'd like to layer blue on the top of the wings at some point in the future, but I dunno if that'll ever happen.
The tail is movable, so it sits comfortably when the parrot is either standing or perched. The wings flap when you lift the moc up and down, but unfortunately, I had to sacrifice posability. for stability.
And if you're wondering, no, I will not be actively posting mocs on mocpages after this. Go check out my flickr if you want to see my newest mocs, and while you're there, stay. Flickr is better than mocpages in every way imaginable.
