MELO R3 - Legopard vs Grant Davis
Battle for Erebor
About this creation
My second battle in the Barad Dur Bracket of the Middle Earth Lego Olympics.

Legopard vs Grant Davis
“Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn!”

While this is a quote of Theoden from the second movie i didn't build something from Lord od of the Rings, but a scene from the Hobbit. Of course i could have build the hundredth Helms Deep, but neither i had the desire to build this castle, nor i have the bricks to realize such a big grey monster. But first of all there were so much Helm's Deeps that i tried my hands on a different scene, that was not build so often.

The Battle for Erebor.

Battle for Erebor

Maybe that's because this battle wasn't shown in one of the Hobbit-movies until now, but will be probably part of the third and last Hobbit movie. Without a example by Peter Jackson i could follow my own thoughts and interpretation.
I know, that these Contest's can not be won only with some figs on a plate, i put most of my effort in the landscaping and of course in the dwarf-statue, witch represents the Erebor.

On the left side we have the Orcs and Wargs:

(What a pity my Azog didn't arrived in time.)

On the right Elves, Dwarfs and Men have confederate to fight together:
“Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn!”

And in the background the big (but not nearly Minifig scale) dwarf statue:

I'm looking forward to Grant's interpretation and the decision of the hard-working judges. Thank you!
Good luck everyone!

Stay crætive!
Jonas

The snotted statue with all the different angles is a real eyecatcher. Good work, Jonas. ----- I wonder what qualifies judges that base their judgement on the number of minifigs in an entry. I thought this was a building contest and not one where your show how much money you have to buy figs.

I'm a huge fan, Legopard, and this is one of my favorites by you so far. I love the detail of the build. That axe looks simply devastating. Also, a nice job in your representation of the beard. Superb.

While my vote no longer holds any sway, I'll still share my thoughts. Both you and your opponent performed masterfully and super impressively. The builds are quite equal in my eyes. That said, I have to be nit-picky to decide. While Grant's build is mind-blowing, I think your build looks slightly more organized and complete in terms of composition. You've got my vote. I particularly like how you tackled the hexagonal chain-mail pattern on the dwarf statue, Jonas.

Jonas, your Erebor has a special place in my heart for a very obvious reason, haha. I thought the dwarf was spot on, and the details in the landscape were professionally built. However, it seemed as though your build was dwarfed (pardon the pun) in light of your opponent's grandiose work. Unfortunately, my vote goes to him.

Die Statue ist einfach unglaublich - vom Kopf bis zu den Zehenspitzen. Am meisten beeindruckt mich der Helm. Du hast es geschafft Gimlis Zwergenhelm sehr detailgetreu in der Statue wiederzugeben. Hut bzw. Helm ab vor der Leistung. Great MOC, Jonas!

Whoa, awesome build Jonas! The statue is really quite incredible, the armor is a great touch which is executed quite well. Nice landscaping too, some of the best pine trees I've seen. Best of luck in the MELO!
