3-inch Howitzer Motor Carriage M10 "Wolverine" - On Turrets and Hair-Ripping
The M10 was an American tank destroyer that saw action during WWII.
About this creation

A view of the tank destroyer from the rear.

A view of the tank destroyer from above, showing the turret interior and the gun breech.

HISTORICAL DATA:
Weight: 27.8 tons
Armament: 3" (76.2 mm) Gun M7

The M10 tank destroyer, formally 3-inch Gun Motor Carriage, M10 was a United States tank destroyer of World War II based on the chassis of the M4 Sherman tank. It was numerically the most important U.S. tank destroyer of World War II and combined a reasonably potent anti-tank weapon with a turreted platform (unlike the previous M3 GMC, whose gun was capable of only limited traverse). Despite the introduction of more-powerful types as replacements, it remained in service until the end of the war. Some of those replacements were in fact modified and/or rebuilt from the M10 itself.

It was christened the Wolverine by the British, although unlike other vehicle names such as the M4 Sherman, the name was not adopted by American soldiers, who called it TD (a nickname for any tank destroyer in general) beyond its formal designation.

Yay! I finally uploaded it! I've been putting it off for some time, because schoolwork and extracurricular activities have been noming up my time. However, I managed to finally find the time on a Friday night to share this with you. Hurrah!
A thing I noticed after finishing (and was too lazy to correct, given that I'd already spent a TON of time on the given part) was that the turret is a bit too small. That may not matter to some of you, but it certainly does to me. It may not look like it from the pictures, but it's easier to notice if one has an interactive, 3D view. Such as, for example, the one in LDD.
Otherwise, the model turned out quite well, I think. But that's not important. What's important is what YOU think! So tell me! Critiques? What would you have done differently? Anything at all! Except pointless flaming. We don't want a fire.

Enjoy!

EDIT: I reuploaded the main image with the corrected turret. Yay! It took me longer than expected, because I'm making all my renders now in higher quality, which often requires me to leave them running overnight. Thanks to many alert commenters for pointing out that the turret was not quite too small, merely too far forward on the chassis.

Quoting Jerry Temple Great job! Is 75mm 3 inches, because I think that's how big its gun was?
Thanks! And I think the gun was 76.2mm, or exactly 3 inches. 75 is close enough though. ;)

very very nice update, now, its perfect, however Alex isnt wrong, the suspension it could use some detail, but its not required, everything else makes up for it!

This is very well designed, veeery close to perfection! The top part is pretty much just like it looked, and I really like the way you made the turret counterweight. Only thing that needs work is the suspension, you could detail it a bit perhaps switch to the normal 1x3 track links (or notm whatever rows your boat ;) just some advice, as you still have to make the M36 slugger with the same chasis.

Quoting Claw Paradox Not bad. The turret isn't too small; it's too forward on the chassis. I would recommend moving it back about 4 studs.
Thank you! And about the turret, I've now fixed it (done basically exactly what you recommended) and the turret now looks much more in place.

Quoting killswitch95 [DEMON] very good, but your turret is to far forward, it had a more mid mounted turret, but that is the only flaw i see, great job!
THanks! Turret is fixed, I am about to re-render the model and re-upload it.

Awesome model! If the turret is too small, I certainly didn't notice, but what did stand out to me is the excellent shaping of both the turret and the hull. Great job!
