Bionicle Microfigures Rahkshi New Colours - Guurahk, Vorahk and Kurahk (Pickabrick January/February 2014 6/9)
Ages ago, I had a crazy idea that nobody had done before; why not take Bionicle sets and make them using system builds? I started off with a Rahkshi, not knowing what would happen. The Rahkshi quickly skyrocketed into the first place of my most popular MOCs. So, when my first ever Pick-A-Brick order came around, I thought it might be a good idea to buy some Rahkshi for that. They only had the red top part, so I got two in that colour. The effect was amazing. It quickly zoomed past the original and took first place, also earning my first MOC on the homepage. I had another idea to make some other coloured Rahkshi, but there was just one small problem. PAB still didn’t have the piece in any other colours. The solution, however, came from a friend who dumped all his Lego on me. It had all the top parts I needed to build one Guurahk, four Vorahk and six Kurahk (or five, I can’t remember). I thought I’d just get one of each, though, because otherwise it’d be too expensive…
About this creation

Turahk #1: Okay. You called usssss out here for ssssssome reassssson. Tell usssssss.
Turahk #2: Yesssssss, tell usssssss.
Declan: Don’t worry, guys. It’s good news, not bad news.

Declan: I’ve got you some new friends to hang with.
Turahk #2: Are they Rahkssssshhhhhhhhi?
Declan: Yep!

Declan: In fact, here they are now!
Turahk #1: What?

???: Hello there! Good to sssssssee you!
Turahk #1: Oh my Makuta!
Turahk #2: It cannot be…

Kurahk: Hello there. I’ve been expected to be in thisssss MOC.
Vorahk: Me too.
Guurahk: And mysssssself assssssss well…

Declan: Now now you guys, make sure you get along.
Turahk #2: Oh, we will. I’m gonna have lots of fun with that Guurahk over there…
Turahk #1: Bro? What are you thinking?
Turahk #2: Nothing…

Declan: Well, while Turahk number two tries to hit on Guurahk, I suppose I should show you the photos of this MOC. Enjoy!

Silai: Not so fast! I want a Rahkshi!
Declan: Oh boy, not this again…

Declan: Listen, I’m only going to say this one more time. Do you have any money?
Silai: No, but you do!
Declan: But I’m not going to spend it on you, so if you want Lego, then YOU’VE GOTTA PAY!

Silai: Fine, meany!
Declan: Well, at least I got through to you…

Silai: I’ll just steal it then!
Declan: Can’t. It’s in the bank.

Silai: DARN IT! Shabalabadingdong!
Declan: Wow, haven’t heard anyone say that in a long time, and I mean it. No sarcasm intended at all…
**I really don’t.**

Declan: Well, with that out of the way, please enjoy the MOC…

The first Rahkshi is the Kurahk, the Rahkshi of ice. It was actually the first Rahkshi I ever owned.

I gave it saws because usually ice type characters have swords for some reason. The element is even named the ‘ice saw’.

The spikes on the back use sand spikes instead of black to create a different effect.

The second Rahkshi I built was Guurahk, Rahkshi of water.

The staff on this one uses the robot Minifigure hands and technic half beams to create the effect given by most Rahkshi staffs. I didn’t try to make the rest of the staffs like this, though, because otherwise they’d all be the same except for Turahk.

Nothing special about these spikes. They’re just black.

The final Rahkshi is the Vorahk. This Rahkshi’s element is earth. I never really understood why this Rahkshi is called this. You see, each Rahkshi has a slight variation of the element prefix and then ‘Rahk’. For example, Turahk has ‘tu’ instead of ‘ta’ (as in Ta-Metru, Ta-Matoran or Tahu). And the same goes for Guurahk, with ‘gu’ being ‘ga’. They all have the same beginning consonant. So why isn’t the earth Rahkshi something like ‘Onerahk’ or ‘Onarahk’ because of the ‘Onu’ prefix?

Anyway, after covering that strange phenomenon, we’ll look at the staff. The staff is a club. I thought that earth was mainly the attribute of strength in the Bionicle universe, as each element has it’s attribute. In my opinion, Fire is leadership, water is knowledge, air is freedom, ice is calculation and stone is strength. I’m kinda stuck on stone, though. Any ideas?

The spikes on Vorahk are white to create contrast to the mostly black body.

For a size comparison, he’s only a little bit bigger than a standard Minifigure, and most robotic Minifigures are. So, technically this can be counted as a Minifigure in my opinion. Oh well, no point changing the title now.

Here’s all three Rahkshi standing together…

…and here’s all five. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this MOC. Like, comment and add me as a fave builder to see more Rahkshi goodness next time I get a PAB order. Also, check out the first PAB Rahkshi by clicking HERE or visit the original that started it all HERE. You can even download some outdated LDD instructions HERE I know that’s a lot of links, but that’s all for now. As always, happy building! :)

Quoting Lego Jim .... Dude, these are cool. They are really thought out well. I like the way you did the spikes on his back. Awesome job.

Quoting The Grammarian . I really like these figures! They're even an appropriate size to use in conjunction with the Bionicle minifigures from '05-'07. Well done :)
You know, funny thing. I actually got the idea for these off two things. One of them was the bionicle figures (which I own most of in the inika line) and the other was a 3D printed custom figure I saw on some website. After seeing it, I kinda thought that was cheating. So, I designed my own.

Interesting comment about each of the elements having an attribute. I agree with them except for this: I see Water as Wisdom, and Earth as Knowledge. This is further reinforced by the Ga-Metru profession of Teaching and the Onu-Matoran occupation as Archivist/Museum curator. I really like these figures! They're even an appropriate size to use in conjunction with the Bionicle minifigures from '05-'07. Well done :)

Quoting Evan Botkin Awesome! Funny, the white one was the only one I never had. In think the black is Vohrahk (I don't think I'm spelling it correctly) because the Rahkshi don't have the elemental powers but other, more destructive ones (disintegration, fragmentation, poison, fear, anger, hunger) and so the 'Vohr' prefix is because of hunger (carniVORE). Anyway awesome job! I really like the different staff designs and spike colors.
Ah, I see now. You know, lego has released details about 50 other rahkshi with their colours and powers, but none of them have names. I wish that they'd give them names...
