There are some things that I wish I had done differently and elements that I couldn’t find a way to accomodate. For example there are no Jeffries tubes, no lifeboats, and no horizontal turbolift connecting the two hulls. The torpedo launchers ought to be much bigger, and it occurred to me that the torpedoes themselves should have been stored directly in the walls. Then the racks would just be for transferring them to the load point, like on the NX-01. For the most part though I’m pretty happy, and I certainly feel that I realized my goals with this design. It is in fact reasonable to have 230 people on a ship this size, and there is plenty of room for everyone to live, eat, sleep and work. I’ll certainly tackle other starship classes with the knowledge I gained from doing this one, but for now I think I’ll try something smaller. (Something that doesn’t take a whole year.)
Profile (still just a tad too long!)
Warp engine cutaway. This was actually a lot easier to do than I had anticipated.
A view into the open Landing Deck.
Shuttlepod Icarus on its way to certain doom… that planet does look like Mustafar, doesn’t it?
Second star to the right, and straight on ’til morning!
Here's a Block 1 Daedalus for those of you who are into the nitty-gritty non-canon stuff.
Remarkable work! I am glad you were able to document the building process; its as impressive as the final model! Great final model and congratulations on an obvious labour of love. All the hard work paid off!
Sorry, I found no way to contact through MOC.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Again! Incredible work!
If you would ever be so kind to distribute the LDD file, I would love to have it. Just to keep it for historie.
This is a work of art!
This must be months and months work! (After reading the comments a year. :) )
I hope my Defiant project will be half as good in the end.
Piece count is probably in the 80-90 000 range. It's hard to say because there is no single file with the entire ship. LDD crashes constantly if there are over 20 000 pieces connected in a single file, so I've had to find all kinds of cheats to get these pictures. That's why I can't upload the files too.
stunning work! would love to know if this would work in real... ;-) I also create my MOCs often first in LDD to have a plan and to build the hole model than after the planing saisons. Of how many pieces does this consist ?
