Star Trek USS Daedalus Part 4 Final!
Here she is ready for her shakedown!
About this creation
There are some things that I wish I had done differently and elements that I couldnít find a way to accomodate. For example there are no Jeffries tubes, no lifeboats, and no horizontal turbolift connecting the two hulls. The torpedo launchers ought to be much bigger, and it occurred to me that the torpedoes themselves should have been stored directly in the walls. Then the racks would just be for transferring them to the load point, like on the NX-01. For the most part though Iím pretty happy, and I certainly feel that I realized my goals with this design. It is in fact reasonable to have 230 people on a ship this size, and there is plenty of room for everyone to live, eat, sleep and work. Iíll certainly tackle other starship classes with the knowledge I gained from doing this one, but for now I think Iíll try something smaller. (Something that doesnít take a whole year.)

Profile (still just a tad too long!)

Top view.

Warp engine cutaway. This was actually a lot easier to do than I had anticipated.

A view into the open Landing Deck.

Shuttlepod Icarus on its way to certain doomÖ that planet does look like Mustafar, doesnít it?

Firing phasers!

Second star to the right, and straight on ítil morning!

Here's a Block 1 Daedalus for those of you who are into the nitty-gritty non-canon stuff.

A very impressive build. My favourite picture is the cutaway of the engines.

Remarkable work! I am glad you were able to document the building process; its as impressive as the final model! Great final model and congratulations on an obvious labour of love. All the hard work paid off!

Sorry, I found no way to contact through MOC. Please contact me at janvandenbos54@gmail.com Again! Incredible work! If you would ever be so kind to distribute the LDD file, I would love to have it. Just to keep it for historie. This is a work of art! This must be months and months work! (After reading the comments a year. :) ) I hope my Defiant project will be half as good in the end.

I have half a dozen files for this, and none of them contain the entire ship because LDD keeps crashing. To get a screenshot I had to gut everything not visible, for example.

I've now added a picture showing the Block 1 refit. The red pinstripe version is Block 2.

Piece count is probably in the 80-90 000 range. It's hard to say because there is no single file with the entire ship. LDD crashes constantly if there are over 20 000 pieces connected in a single file, so I've had to find all kinds of cheats to get these pictures. That's why I can't upload the files too.

stunning work! would love to know if this would work in real... ;-) I also create my MOCs often first in LDD to have a plan and to build the hole model than after the planing saisons. Of how many pieces does this consist ?

Awesome build, one of the biggest SHIPs I've ever seen; and in LDD that's almost as much work as building it with bricks. Great job!

Wow! That's enormous, and full of great details. I can't imagine how you did such a good job of modeling the spherical shape of the bridge.
