About this creation
My opponent Ian...... and his entry.

Bracket: Heraldry
Category:
Alex Rode vs. Ian .....
- Noteworthy Lineage
Go back in time twenty, thirty, two hundred years and choose an ancestor of your current character to have an adventure. This is an open challenge in terms of building requirements, but entries must be set in a time period that people would have known of in the middle ages and show the change in time period.
Guild: Average Gnomes!!

Note: Before I start, it is my character who is narrating.

My grandfather was a diverse athlete, but he specialized in swimming. In this particular race, he had come out of the water and was racing toward the finish line on dry land.

There stood the iconic finish "line." It loomed just 30 feet away from my grandfather. There was a small crowd watching this race. Some knights even came to see.

Onward he sprinted!!

But . . . Their presence was not ignored, as a dragon soared in from the North!!

The dragon was speeding towards its target: the oblivious townsfolk. My grandfather saw the dragon, though! This race meant a lot to him, but it wasn't worth the lives that were at risk.

With utmost athleticism, he leaped onto the stunned man's hand . . .

. . .Grabbed onto the finish line rock formation . . .

The dragon was cruising in, its ferocious flames nearly licking the heads of the people!

In a desperation move, my grandfather jumped and grabbed onto the foot of the beast!

His weight caused the dragon to alter its course!

My grandfather and the dragon made a terrible contact with a harsh rock!

Photo of Milford Sound
My grandfather would never give up. He mustered all the strength in his exhausted body and tore the head clean off the dragon!

The beast's body became limp, and tragically, the spiked wing fell directly onto my grandfather's head!!

That day, my grandfather died. He could have finished the race and let the people die. But honor and sacrifice was more important to him.

Photo of Milford Sound

I was visiting the site again. My dad told me the story of my grandfather when I was a child and I always wanted to become a man of honor like him.

The build:

The trees are taller!

There's the dragon's skeleton after 80 years or so!

The finish line still stood strong, but many areas had become overgrown because of the passage of time.

Like I said, overgrown.

I cooked up this bad boy in 20 minutes!!

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga Do you think I could join your MA team, Alex?
Hey Thomas! Well, we have 5 member lined up. 3 will compete for sure, 1 is determining if he can or not and we haven't heard from the 5th. So I will respond to you on this creation when I have news.

Quoting Fraser Robinson This is probably the closest match so far, at least in my opinion. Although your opponent's build is smaller than yours and a little less clean, it has some great techniques used and I really like the story. That being said yours has some excellent rockwork, even if parts seem a little simple. So in the end you get my vote, although in the future try to add a little more detail when it comes to landscaping. Good luck in round three!
Thanks for the feedback and the vote!

Quoting Gilbert Despathens You get my vote in this round. At first I thought your ground was too flat and grey, but then I looked closer and saw some of the textures. Even so, I don't know of many landscapes that look remotely like that one. Despite this drawback, you pulled off the rocks, trees and passage of time quite well. Good luck with the other judges and the rest of the Tourney!

Very nice! I really like the trees, landscape and foliage. The arch is fantastic and the dragon pretty good for a 20-minute creation! I also love how you made things age realistically; the trees grew, the foliage crept along the path and the dragon's bones were left behind! :D I do think the path could be a little less blocky on the edges, though, and I think the grsay sections of the landscape, while I understand that they're supposed to be barren, could be layered a bit with a variety of wedge plates and such. Great job overall, though!

Quoting Mr.Falcon Punch I don't get why people think that a plain next to a dragon's den should be luscious and full of plant life...I mean, it's a fire breathing dragon, of course the ground is gonna look barren, it's scorched, lol! Anyway, very cute little MOC you have here, good luck.
