Round 2!
About this creation
The Tourney 2014

Guild: Crimson Knights.

My opponent, Stephen Boe. Interesting story here. I tried to recruit Stephen to the knights, and I thought I had him, then at the last second, Halhi and someone else (I don't remember) swayed him over to the Average Gnomes. A shame it is, as he is a great builder! Now, I am faced against him.

Bracket: Wrestling

Category: Sprinting Event
- Build an event-like scene depicting your character in some sort of running race (or a relay race with other minifigures in your guild (can be imaginary guild members). You decide the terrain of the race. Since this is an event, sidelines of friends, family, and fans can definitely be present as well as judges to verify who wins the race. You do not have to have a start and finish line (or either) as part of your build. Are you quick enough to move on to the next round?

I would also like to clarify that the figure I say is "The Masked" is his representative, and not necessarily him, for obvious security reasons ;)

IMG_6909

The five contestants stood at the beginning of the race, the crowd watching them.

IMG_6911

Bellow was the first obstacle. The horn suddenly blared: the race had begun.

IMG_6920

The Masked waited 2 seconds before he moved; long enough for the other four to slide down the ramp.

IMG_6922

The representative from the Average gnomes was a few steps ahead by the time The Masked jumped.

IMG_6923

He landed in the middle of the first obstacle, squatting as his feet touched the stone. He then prepared for his second jump.

Meanwhile, The average gnome was close to making it over, as was another contestant. However, the contestant in last had grabbed onto him.

IMG_6924

The Masked landed with his hands on the rock: the second obstacle. However, the Gnome had grabbed onto his leg, keeping him from climbing up

Two of the others where clearing the first obstacle. The last contestant had been pulled off of the obstacle. He had tried to grab something to stay on, but instead, his hand was removed by one of the spikes.

IMG_6926

The Masked was pulled off the rocks by the Gnome, and the both tumbled to the ground. The other two raced to the rock.

IMG_6927

The Masked grabbed the Gnome by the shirt and threw him against one of the other contestants as the other began climbing the rocks.

IMG_6928

The Gnome was thrown to the ground while The Masked grabbed the remaining contestant's legs.

IMG_6929

They tumbled back and the other contestant cracked his head against the rock.

Meanwhile, the Gnome fought to gain the lead.

IMG_6930

The Gnome was thrown against the rocks. The Masked began to stand up, winded from the fall.

IMG_6931

The third contestant crawled through the gap in the rocks.

IMG_6932

"You go first," The Masked said. "Neither of us will win if we keep fighting."

IMG_6935

The third contestant was already making his way across the final obstacle.

IMG_6936

The Masked emerged from the gap as the Gnome balanced on the first wooden pole and the remaining man tried to maintain his balance on one of the second ones.

IMG_6940

As soon as the Gnome jumped to the second pole, The Masked jumped onto the first. The other man managed to regain his balance.

IMG_6941

The Masked jumped at the other man as the Gnome jumped for the third pole.

IMG_6943

The Masked knocked the third opponent off pole.

IMG_6944

The Gnome jumped to the finishing platform.

IMG_6945

The Masked jumped at the platform before the Gnome had a chance to pull himself up.

IMG_6946

The Masked used his momentum to push the Gnome aside.

IMG_6947

The Gnome lost his grip and fell.

IMG_6948

The Masked scrambled onto the platform, the victor.

IMG_6951

"YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!

"Not bad"

IMG_6952

"He-he-he's dead!"

IMG_6953

"YEEEEEEEES"

Some shots of the build now.

IMG_6954

Overall view of most of it.

IMG_6955

Obstacle #1 and #2

IMG_6956

Obstacle #3

IMG_6958

And now some shots of the walls ;)

IMG_6959

IMG_6960

IMG_6961

To be honest, I misread the category and thought it said it HAD to have a start and finish. Turns out it needed neither :P

Good luck Stephen! See that, I spelled it right the first time ;)

I keep forgetting to ask you about something. Is your character supposed to be Batman? HAHAHAHAHA! Gotcha for a second, didn't I? Nice build! :P

Will it be stopmotion? That'd be cool :)

Well Caleb, it was an honor to compete against you. This is a terrific build, and the neat little obstacles you've produced are really cool. Better luck next year!

Truly one of the hardest decisions for me this round, but I feel like your opponent's entry just edged yours out by a little, and therefore he gets my vote. Better luck next year!

Quoting David FNJ You really have some nice textures on the walls there! I also like the use of the large doors. Despite that, your opponent's landscaping really brought it home for me, so he gets my vote. Good luck with the other judges.
Thanks for the feedback!

Quoting David . That was obviously a stand-in, you can tell by the sideburns. :P Nice build, though. I feel bad for any fat dude who tries (and fails) to get through that rock. :P
Yeah, he was just a no-name Gnome (say that 10 times fast), as I didn't want to actually kill a contestant :P

Quoting Kai Bernstein Great work! Nice texturing and clean, if simple studs-up, rockwork. That last obstacle is intense...I love it. I'm glad you didn't try to make fun of the Gnomes, and actually made this one rather formidable; too much of the opposite has been coming from both guilds. I also like how you made the spectators actual guild members, not just random people. Dzargon's there! :D
Thanks Kai! I know, I saw how in all the others, the Knight or Gnome would be portrayed as weak and not even worth the time. I decided, you know what, this is an intense tournament, and I think that the Gnomes are a very formidable opponent, so why not actually show that? As a result, I had the Gnomes be the last other man standing :)

Quoting Halhi 141 Another interesting thing about Stephen: apparently Kai's now convinced that he's an alternate reality version of me :P Anyway, great build, much more than I was expecting when you said it was rushed. I think the main picture doesn't do it justice though...
Hahaha, that's kind of funny :) I built it in like... 2 hours? I think you might be right, but it's the only "artistic" shot I have :/
