TT Round 2: Alex Rode vs. Ian......
- Noteworthy Lineage Go back in time twenty, thirty, two hundred years and choose an ancestor of your current character to have an adventure. This is an open challenge in terms of building requirements, but entries must be set in a time period that people would have known of in the middle ages and show the change in time period. Find Gilbert Despathens if you would like historical advice on this challenge.
About this creation

The Tourney!

Round 2, me versus my own teammate. My first reaction was, "Oh no, this won't be good." Then I saw the category. A smile crept across my face. "I've got an idea." The most interesting thing to me was that elves, since they're almost immortal, could go back a few ancestors, but still go back two millennium. In fact, that's exactly what I did. My build started going slowly at first, and I was planning to just have ruins and a full building, just on the same plate, and vary the terrain. Then Gilbert and Adam Burnsting gave me an amazing idea. A transforming scene. Although I changed the foliage manually, The ruins to building transition is transforming. I had a lot of fun with this build, and I bid Alex all the luck in the world. If you don't like a huge story, just skip to the bottom. Also to the judges, during the first story scenes, anything gray is stone, and anything that is gold colored is bronze. And without further ado, here is my MOC:

"Welcome Average Gnomies, Many of you are wondering why I called you out here so early in the morning."
My opening speech was met by a whole lot of grumbling, and not much else.
"OK then, you guys sure are enthusiastic this morning, anyone know where Drazard is?"
"Said something about cutting the first person who woke him up this early in half," replied Wallace.
"Alright, I brought you all here to tell you my story>
Everyone groaned at once.
"Did I mention there would be a treat at the end?"
Everyone suddenly started paying attention suddenly.
"Alright, the story begins like this..."
Suddenly I was cut off by George. "Am I in this story?"
"Uhh, no, this story happ..."
"Then it can't be that interesting"
"Fine, fine, fine."
"What about me?" replied Rego.
"And me!"
"Ooh, ohh me too."
"Fine! Just shut up already! As I was saying, it began like this. 2,000 years ago, my grandfather, Helios, was the ruler of one of the few unified areas of Mythron. He ruled a kingdom of elves, called Atalantia. At a time when there were few to no humans, my grandfather unified the elves to fight against evil."

This precise story starts with a farmer, named George (Happy), and his son, Rego (you satisfied?). They had lived in a land far from here, and had been shipwrecked, along with his wife. They had constructed this hut to protect them from the weather. The building was not too good, but it served its purpose. One day, Rego was playing out in the field while his father kept watch over him.

Suddenly, five orcs appeared, and Rego hid behind his father and his mother, who had appeared from inside.
"What do you want?" Asked George, brandishing his pitchfork.
"We want to kill you," the Orc replied in a dark tongue, as no one here yet spoke common, besides a few elves who had had dealings with humans before.
"Speak common, beast."
Instead of replying, the orcs started to advance.

Suddenly a spear flew into the backside of an orc.

With an elvish cry of "Justice," my grandfather and two other elves attacked. While MY grandfather lead one to attack the orcs directly, while the other stood guard over the three humans. A battle ensued, and all but two orcs were killed.

The green-clad elf slashed across one of them, and the last one buried his weapon in the stomach of the brown-haired elf. He ran, swearing that one day, he Hadiran, would have his revenge.

Now our story goes forward 1,200 years, I had been born for fifty years by then. King Mythros I led his forces through the land, building up his empire. My grandfather had given up his rule, and given it over to the King. The king led a small group of men to conquer the enemy at the exact location where my grandfather had defeated the orcs, twelve centuries ago.

Mythros I did not notice the barbarian archer on the opposite bank, slowly taking aim at him.

My Grandfather, loosing a war cry, charged in and stabbed the archer killing him.

Hearing a snap from behind him, my grandfather spu, just in time to block the strike of a heavily armored orc.

Feeling the strength in the orcs blow, my grandfather knew he wouldn't stand a chance, so he made one last desperate jab, which the orc dodged, knocking my grandfather;s sword from his hand.

He blocked again and again with his shield, but the battle would soon be won or lost. Suddenly, the orc knocked the shield from my grandfather's hands.

He then delivered a killing blow to my grandfather.

He then ran off, muttering to himself that Hadiran had been avenged. He was still muttering that when I slew him.
And so ends my story."
"That was a cool story," said Destrian.
"And now for your reward, I will tell you what this place is also good for..."

"...Swimming!" (In full armor, no less, cause we gnomes are that tough.)

Excellent little scene! Love the realistic fig posing and the tree (that's gonna be a hard technique to not... err, borrow haha). Great work!

Quoting David . Epic orc, dude! nice Tree, standing up and falling down. ;) And cool playability with the switching scenes! But I must ask, why did you replace out the cool Switchy-changy tree with a simple stick one at the last minute?
That was part of me changing the scene over time.

Quoting Fraser Robinson This is probably the closest match so far, at least in my opinion. Although your build is smaller than your opponent's and a little less clean, it has some great techniques used and I really like the story. On the other hand, Alex's build also had some great techniques used, and overall looks just a little more natural than yours. So in the end I'm sorry to say that your opponent gets my vote, his idea to include a before and after idea really was the icing on the cake.
Thanks anyway!

Quoting Gilbert Despathens Ian, I very nearly gave you the vote in this round. One detail more or less could have shifted the balance, but, as it stands, I decided to give it to Alex Rode. The tree and the transforming features are great, and the only real detractors are the front of the house, which is a little too transparent to stand up, and the strange light grey riverbank. Maybe the other judges will have different opinions - good luck.
K, thanks for the feed back.

I don't have 15 red speedos, so I couldn't do that.
