Now on revision 3. Current alternate count: 27 The Space Ace is a further development of my TESLA 99A. It has 130 parts and an ambitious goal: 130 different alternate models. Many of these will be re-colored versions of tesla 99A alternates, but with 31 more parts I expect to have 31 or more all new alternate models. Keep checking back over the next several weeks for more models. The Space Ace is meant to be a starter set for LEGO space. Think "bricks and more" but without the bricks and double the more. If produced as a set it would include a fairly thick idea book packed with instructions and suggestions. Perfect for the builder who has more creativity than money.
About this creation
Design notes:
The sensor cluster section spins freely in its socket when the bracket is lifted up. Also the buggy can roll up to 15 degrees left or right in its socket when the canopy is lifted. Both these "flaws" are by design. A child playing with this set will need the tolerance when attaching and detaching the different modules. If the model has tight play tolerances it will lead to frustration. The exposed wheels underside are another playtime measure. with the wheels as the lowest point of the set it will make it easier for a child to press a minifig into the seat without the landing gear coming off. The wheels are also a convenient part to pull on when removing the buggy from the flyer. As a further note, notice that there are no true "hinges". Movement is provided by grabber/handle combos, which are much more versatile.

130 parts.
Not pictured: 1x1 plate, white, qty:2

Since this model is as much a toy as it is a MOC, I have included a LDD file for you to download and disassemble. To get a parts list, open the file in LDD, go to building guide mode(top right corner), then generate a HTML building guide(top left corner). The last page of instruction will have a parts list. Note: The LDD model reflects the changes in revision 2.

Summary of Revisions:
Revision 1: modified ABS version to match LDD version and to remove a COBI part.
Removed (clone)part 99781 Bracket 1 x 2 - 1 x 2 (black)(COBI toys copy)
Added part 99780 Bracket 1 x 2 - 1 x 2 Inverted (dark blue/gray) (genuine LEGO)

Revision 2: Increased part interoperability and prepared for custom decals.
removed part 58176 light cover with internal bar (trans red)
added part 48729b Bar 1L with Clip Mechanical Claw, Cut Edges and Hole on One Side (light blue/grey)
removed part 3070bp07 Tile 1 x 1 with White and Red Gauge Pattern
added part 3070 (red)
Also in revision 2 the wings have been moved upward 1 plate height and the technic pin holding the buggy to the flyer has been moved upward 1 plate height. No part changes were required for this part of the revision, merely a slight change in assembly order. This change makes the model easier to assemble on a flat surface.

Revision 3: Re-colored parts for greater appeal, and 2 substitutions. All models from revision 2 are still possible.
Removed part 30057(1x1 plate, round. black) qty 2.
Added part 85862(1x1 plate, round, with open stud. black) qty 2
Removed part 973pb191c01 (Torso SW T-16 Skyhopper Pilot Pattern / Red Arms / Black Hands)qty 1
Added part 973pb298c01 (Torso Jacket with Zippers, Black Top, Classic Space Logo, White Undershirt Pattern / Red Arms / Yellow Hands) qty 1
Note: changed hands to black gloves.
Removed 2516(tool holder, black) qty 1
Added 2516(tool holder, white) qty 1

This picture reflects the major changes of revision 3.

This is really nice, I'm a big fan of tiny flying machines (although I'm working on a big one right now), and this is a nice little shuttle. The alternatives are nice too, but the main design is my favourite because of the interesting shape and features. Really great!

I'm thinking about doing the Steampunk one. Definitely would generate a few laughs. Yeah, I'll do it. I will use the BTII signature cockpit since I love it so much. (You might even see an Ice Planet Aerial Intruder here soon!) Cheers!

Quoting Commander Cold Hello, JWG. I'd like to state that if you want to see my latest progress on the monorail, you have two options. 1. You can simply go to my page and click the link that will take you to my WIP Folder on Flickr 2. If you just want to see my trains, The two I have developed are right on my front page in HD so it'll be easy to see them. Please comment on them if you have a Flickr account. If you don't, just comment on my Cosmic Cargo craft telling me what you liked and didn't like and what you'd like to see. I'd Highly value your input. -Commander Cold, Commissioner of Monorails :D
i would like to see the blacktron ii spherical cockpit as a train cabin. Also, what do you think of making the locomotive in a configuration similar to old steam trains? Steam punk ice planet

I really love all of these cute little spaceships you make. You have a really distinctive building styles and it's awesome how much playability you fit in each ship. I like this one in particular for all the playability it is capable of.
