MPD - Mobile Planetary Defense
Super range laser cannons were driven around on these mobile weapons platforms so as to deliver a planetary defense system that couldn't be pin pointed by an enemy as a bombing target.

Not sure if any of my smaller ships cound withstand shots from this super-laser. Your enemies would rather to bring either very fast scouts to evade this lethal weapon or heavily armored battlehips. Overall it is another great example of superior craftmanships done in the very eldest Space theme. I would call it neo-classicspace style. Many of people tried it but you are still one of the best both in this and other things. Great job :D

Very awesome!! Very cool design for the vehicle and that laser cannon is just plain great. Original idea too, a logical next step in defense developments considering mobile defense types in service today :-)

As a kid, Iīve always cut out the pictures of everything I wanted from the LEGO catalogue and glued them on my wish-list. ... Iīd have needed lots of catalogues to make clear how much I wanted this one! ~Marc

Nice! I really like the size and colour of it, the design with all the old parts really is special. I especially like the old reverse canopy pieces you used on the back of the turret, those add a neat look, and the front with the steering wheels is really great!

he, he, my buzz about these vehicles is imagining them in an unnatural scene, that is why I always build some, I like to force them into contexts that usually does nt fit, very much like the thunderbirds, where you have a nicely scaled little city scene, and that big monstruous vehicle rolls into town, xd, next, I like to put normal vehicles next to it, so that it looks even more sensational, that s why your spaceship with cars is still in my fav creations from you, lol.

Quoting Mike Johnson Now that's a heavy cannon to be proud and afraid of all in one shot! I have a question about the tires. Can you still get these? I had a set at one time but the plastic hubs all cracked. I still have the rubber tires but they don't fit very well on any of the newer hubs I have. In any event well done my friend.
Mate, one place you need to shop at - Bricklink. You can get anything mailed to your door.

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus Although the technical part is pretty impressive and the whole thing looks great, I really dislike the flavor contradiction in weaponized classic space.

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 oh, yeah! my kind of cs vehicle, heavy and massive, doubling these wheels is my fav technique with those, 6+ makes it a real contender in my book, applying the hoth rebel base strategy to cs is brilliant, I bet it could knock down at-ats too, xd, the shapes are nice, you re starting 2014 very nicely Parr!
Now I knew you were going to like this CF. Lots of fun these vehicles, I did think of you during this build and how much fun you seem to have with your Mocs.

Quoting Dennis Price Serious firepower, CS style. Love the cab over wheels and the gunner's controls. The thing is rugged, ready to hit the back country of some backwater planet to deliver DEVESTATION. Great sense of military design and utility here, and the details just make me want to go back in time, beat up some Lego designer and make him design this as an official set! (In other words, I'd buy it.)
hehe, thanks Dennis, can you imagine the price? Our parents would have died from the nagging ;)

Quoting matt rowntRee I love how this is messing with my sensibilities of CS. As in, the most awesome weapon in the fleet! Everything about this is just perfect, the grey with the trans yellow and those great tires. All the fantastic details make this supremely playable and the overall aesthetic is oddly Lego. David mentioned the old crane from the idea book and it immediately clicked. Outstanding Par!

Quoting David Roberts What a super creation. A perfect blend of Classic Space and the spirit of the telescopic crane from the old Technic ideas book. Super details to discover, such as the gunner's seat and the engine. I think that some fold-out stabiliser legs, to deploy before firing, would be fun. I'm also quite envious of all of the grey Lego that you have!
Yeh It hought of it but in the end decided the stabilisers and a 4 wheel front assembly will go on to my next cs vehicle, whenever that may be. Grey is hard to come by hey?

Quoting Steef Mediocre Oh man, I think this is perfect. A (rare) 5-legoheads from me! The classic space theme (with the little yellow-black-yellow marker), the subtle greebling on the roof, the military utilitarian look of it and the sheer badass shape, it all makes sense. I like that you thought about putting in a door for the driver and the danger markings on the back of the moving cannon part. I even like the use of the large technick bricks with the holes as part of the overall image. Only thing I have doubts about is the large spare wheel on the back. I mean, even if they run a flat tire, how are they going to change that without the aid of a crane? ;)
Thanks Steef, yeh this one was real fun, and I just kept up the standard all the way through this build. Even teh undercarriage looks good. No short cuts, so glad it translated. Yeh I wasn't going to add a spare tire cos I though the same thing. I was going to build extendable stabilisers which would have made that more sensible but I figured the tyres are certainly some form of solid unpuncturable tyre. I added the spare in the end as though a crane may be required, in the miltary, such a need can be quickly attended to. Easier to have the spares on site than have a repair truck have to carry them? Cheers for looking mate :D
