About this creation
2013-14 Middle Earth Lego Olympics

Hey everyone.

Here's my entry into Round 2 of the MELO. Originally, I was going to build the scene straight from the movie, but when I saw my opponent's brilliant entry , I knew there was no way I could match it. In the end, I based my entry on the scene from the book. Here is the description from the book:

"Turning aside, she (Galadriel) led them (Frodo and Sam) toward the southern slopes of the hill of Caras Galadhon, and passing through a high green hedge they came into an enclosed garden. No trees grew there, and it lay open to the sky. The evening star had risen and was shining with white fire above the western woods. Down a long flight of steps the Lady went into the deep green hollow, through which ran murmuring the silver stream that issued from the fountain on the hill.”

Once again, thanks to Ian and the judges for putting on this great contest and good luck to you, Mr. Vauban! It's a real honor to be competing against you!

Thanks for viewing everyone and God Bless!

~Mark

Just beautiful. Great colour combos on the plants and nice sculpting, I like how the well is blocky and not round.

Quoting Halhi 141 I think the highlight of this build for me is that stream. Rarely have I seen green shaded water be effective while looking like water, but here it looks perfect. Great job!
Thanks! I was pretty happy with it as well!

Quoting Alex Rode Well, looks like we're both going back to . . . other things :P (I was very surprised that I lost to Lee.) Are you considering entering some other contests?
Haha, I guess so. I was surprised as well. No, I don't think I'll be entering any more contests for a while. Thanks again Alex!

Quoting KW Vauban Great entry. I like how you built the torches. Clever use of this part. I was looking for such an item - but I did not found it, even I have some. It was an honor to me, too.

An solid build Mark! However, considering that you and your opponent essentially built the same thing, I think Vauban impressed just a little bit more. My vote goes to him, but good effort nonetheless!

Hi Mark, this is an excellent entry! I liked many aspects of yours better than your opponent's (like your path), but ultimately, he gets my vote for the overall complexity he chose to portray. Good luck with the other judges.
