MELO Round 2 Lee Muzzy VS Alex Rode
Barad Dur Bracket:
About this creation

Quote: “Nothing passes door and window here save moonlight and starlight and wind off the hilltop.”

My worthy opponent Alex rode’s:entry

Well here it is! My Round 2 entry to the Middle Earth Lego Olympics.

I really enjoyed building this moc. I got to use several techniques that I had never used before. The hardest part was probably the roof but the forced perspective was difficult as well. Thanks to all the judges for hosting this contest and good luck to everyone in round 2!

The wind of the hilltop entering the door.

Through the window are the moon and stars.

The wind again.

Tom and Goldberry sitting by the fire.

The fire place, The design was originally Paul, Vermeesch which he used in his league of explorers but I was mostly inspired my Ian spacek’s mobster’s den

The hobbits sleeping, I was not completely satisfied with the beds but I did not have the pieces I wanted.

The room without figs.

The room without furniture or figs.

Tom and Golberry. Tom is as close as I could get with the pieces I had to the book. Golberry is not accurate to the book. In the book she has golden hair and a green dress. Unfortunately I did not have those min-fig pieces so this is how I imagined her before I went back to the book and looked at the description carefully. No Idea why I imagine her this way but that’s just how I do.

Thanks and hope you enjoy!

First of all, I'm going to say that this was the toughest decision I've had to make this round. I labored over it for quite a while, and (as Lee is a personal friend) I even consulted another judge from Orthanc Bracket to ensure that bias was not playing a roll in my decision. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I prefer Alex's build. It has better composition and looks a tad cleaner and professional. However, in every other regard, I prefer Lee's entry. While I'm not super impressed with the exterior of Lee's build, I think his interior is about equal with Alex's exterior. I also think that Lee's build is a lot more intriguing in terms of the category. He brought in many of the different components using some cool effects like forced-perspective. He also used some nice techniques that particularly stand out (e.g. chimney smoke, the fireplace, the armless mini-fig torsos for the sleeping hobbits, etc.). That said, I think Lee's build is more intriguing and has some really strong points and some weak points. Alex's entry, on the other hand, I don't find quite as interesting, but it's more balanced in terms of build quality. So...which do I choose? I'm going to give Mr. Muzzy the benefit of the doubt, despite the weak exterior of his build. Congratulations Lee! Your mix of a few clever techniques, strong relevance to the category, and a decent interior deign win you my vote! As for you Alex, I still like your build better from a strictly balanced aesthetic standpoint. It was a super hard decision for me, so hold your heads high both of you!

Neither entry was a lot better than the other, but I think you portrayed the category better. You have my vote.

Hi Lee, great job! The size and complexity of your opponents build earns him my vote, unfortunately. He gets my vote. Good luck with the other judges!

Quoting Bill Daniels. Awesome! Great work! Could you please do the scoring in my contest? There are only 14 entry's. I already did it today, but I was just now pasting it into the comment, and I deleted it all by clicking past before even copying the scoring and stuff, so the last thing I copied got pasted where I had the scores, and then I couldn't click undo, so I ruined it all. >:( And I really don't want to re do it. Thanks! I hope you can do it.
possibly. 2 things though. 1 I need a link to the group and 2 by scoring do you mean judge them?
