About this creation
Caleb's Minifigure Contest

CMC 1

Megan Doug's Lass awoke to dancing shadows cast by flame and the not-so-distant crackle of the bonfire that had once been her neighbor's house. In an instant, she sprang from her bed - William's orcs had returned to plunder.

IMAG0084

In the next moment, she fumbled beneath her place of rest for her hunting bow. Whether or not she could use in defense, it was a family heirloom and her most valuable possession.

IMAG0087

As the first shouts raced across the valley, Megan forced her boots over her feet.

IMAG0088

She was ready to walk out the door when the screaming from the burning house ceased. The family had never been one of the most respected in the clan, but they were family - and now that she knew they were gone, Megan froze in her steps.

IMAG0089

Steeling her nerves, she pushed forward. Whatever they had done to the Gregors, the Scarred's band would not have her as a victim.

IMAG0089

Megan could see figures moving in the firelight. Someday, the clan of MacFiercest would have a lord strong enough to bring William to justice, but for now, the huntress took the only course of action available...

IMAG0091

...she turned her head and ran for the castle.

[><><><><><><]

IMAG0092

Look, I used miniature orcs in my forced perspective!

IMAG0093

More shots of the build...

IMAG0095

IMAG0096

IMAG0107

...and finally the protagonist in all her cloth-ABS-and-rubber glory!

IMAG0107-1

This is the portrait-sized version, as you can tell. Now I should probably talk about the deeds I've done...

Fourth Wall:

I will start with the central pillar of this build, Megan. I've been refining parts of her design for two years now, ever since I found out that a soft cape, small rubber band and a skeleton torso can be combined to give the appearance of an hourglass figure. The rest of Megan's attire includes white, "rolled-up sleeves" made from floppy skeleton arms, which hold a minifigure hand surprisingly well when reversed; brown pants made by stacking bricks with Y-clips at the top; a cloak made from a troll's cape worn over the shoulders and, finally, a traditional Lego quiver. I chose to give this minifigure flesh-colored skin rather than yellow because, despite having no face due to my limited collection, this option makes the figure much more realistic.

The build is a simpler matter. I recently ordered a number of light bley and dark tan masonry bricks, so I still have to find a balance between using those and relying on traditional parts. As a result, not only are the walls of the house made of the pieces, so too are the door and the roof. In addition, I also messed with forced perspective, a black background and stacked-angle-plate landscaping.

EDIT:

IMAG0108

In accordance with the rules of the contest, this is a picture of the overall build.

IMAG0109

I took this one to satisfy Toa Infernum, who said that a face would make the figure perfect. I guess it is better than the reversed clone's head I have been using.

IMAG0110

IMAG0111

Now for some technical pictures, starting with the back view...

IMAG0112

Oh my gosh! It's the inner workings of the figure!

Thanks for viewing, everyone.

Quoting David . YOU. CUT UP A CAPE?!?!?BLASPHEME!!!
I am offended! I am a purist and I would never do such a thing (although, if I do win one of the custom capes being given out as prizes for this contest, I might use that). The outer cape that goes over her back was made that way and came with the Trolls' Mountain Fortress. The other cape is naturally worn and tattered due to excessive use and age.

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga Looked back at the new pictures, and I think the female face actually spoils it to a certain extent. With no face, this is less like a minifigure, and more like a piece of art. Also, I didn't think my UCA was THAT good :P
Maybe the microscale in your UCA wasn't perfect, but the forced perspective effect was excellent.

Quoting Halhi 141 Fantastic build! Funny to see this as your most popular already. I'm not really sure that I like her arms though, they seem a bit awkward to me. The boots however look fantastic, the use of rubber bands aesthetically rather than functionally is always nice to see. The forced perspective could be better I think; IMO forced perspective works best for "scenes" (where everything in the picture is Lego) and I think the use here is maybe not the best. That aside, however, a great build that deserves much better pictures!
Ouch, that's the second comment to bash on my photography... maybe there is meaning to this madness... Thanks for the constructive feedback. I'll try to do better in the future, but I'm afraid that my next MOC has already been photographed with all of the flaws you mentioned here except the forced perspective.

Isn't that always the case - you give out 5s on MOCs you really like, then someone comes along and blows you away and you have nothing better to give them? I'm surprised that I'm actually on the other end of this phenomenon for once. Thanks - I'll try to break a leg in the contest. Knowing the subject, that might actually come to pass.
