The EDP (Elevated Defence Platform) is a tactical bio-mech walker designed to surpass most other vehicles on the battlefield.
Structurally it's at a disadvantage due to the heightened stature making it an easier target for enemy forces, but this is compensated by tougher armour, energy shielding technology and superior firepower.
Although it suffers in speed, the EDP can outperform other vehicular units of it's size on varied terrain with it's legs. The splayed 'toes' of the feet are each articulated to adjust to terrain and so can traverse many more areas where standard vehicles that rely on wheels or tracks cannot venture.
Normally EDP's are deployed in sets of 6 to small populated areas to decimate everything in their path. Few survive but those that do have vocally depicted the aftermath of the Crusaders marching through the barren streets with EDP's constantly scanning the area.
Another addition to my Crusaders Noir series. There had to be a mech in there somewhere and after watching the original Robocop out of nostalgia brought on by trailers of the remake, I latched onto ED-209's wonderful foot design with the splayed toes.
I guess it turned out a bit too much like ED-209 in the end but it's still different enough to fit in with my theme.
