TT Round 1
For The 2014 Tourney
About this creation
Since my first entry was disqualified, here is the second. The Tourney

Bracket: Heraldry

The Masked and a man known as Tobias where fleeing from a castle in Mythron. Tobias had been badly poisoned just before they had made their getaway. They made escaped through an underground passage.

some_text

Tobias fell to the ground.

"We must keep going, or they'll soon catch us!"

"I-I just need a moment."

After a few moments, Tobias managed to stand up and keep moving.

some_text

He had only gone a few feet before he stopped again, "I cannot continue. I-I-I am in too much pain!"

some_text

The Masked set him next to a pillar.

"I am dying," Tobias soon realized. "I am dying."

"I'm sorry. It happens to the best of men," The Masked said quietly.

"Tell me a story. A story of someone who died bravely."

Though taken aback, The Masked began a story that he had told no one before.

some_text

I was 18 at the time. I had left home to become Rainos' bravest knight, or so I had hoped. With me was Michael, my best friend, though he was only 15. Perhaps my only friend. I treated him poorly and I regret it to this day. 5 months after I left home, he was still with me, still carrying my bags and doing what he could to help. He too wanted to be a knight someday. He hoped that when I had become a knight, I would help him achieve his dream.

One day, the two of us where traveling through the woods. We had been advised not to by the innkeeper in the town before, but I had decided that we would risk it anyways.

some_text

I figured we would be fine, and even if some bandits attacked us, we could handle ourselves. I was wrong.

some_text

Four Halidra attacked us.

some_text

We turned to fight them. Michael killed the first one, as he was closest to them.

some_text

Unfortunately, he was not trained well enough, and could do nothing to stop the second one from driving a spear into his stomach.

some_text

I noticed only after I had slain my second foe.

some_text

I watched as Michael slowly fell to the ground.

some_text

I yelled in anger and charged the final Halidra

some_text

I swiftly decapitated him as Michael fell the rest of the way to the floor.

some_text

I ran to his side, hoping he was still alive.

some_text

But he was already dead. He died saving me. I never would have been able to fight off 4 Halidra on my own.

I realized suddenly that he never would have had to fight them if we had taken the innkeeper's advice. If only I had planned better, I thought, if only I had been smarter. To this day, Michael is the bravest and most selfless man I have ever met. Though he never became a knight, he deserved it. He deserved it more than anyone.

some_text

Just as The Masked finished his story, the Tobias died.

How many men must I see die? The Masked wondered, it is bitter to outlive this many men.

So now for the build :)

some_text

The cave.

some_text

The woods.

some_text

The whole build.

Alright. Done! I'm pretty happy with this :)

nicely told, a tragic tale, it s fun to see your emotional palette of story telling, it s not always the same, the scene was also well done.

Your emotional story and the lighting added much to this build. Too bad you had to rush it a bit. The textures on the ground and the cave effect are both nice.

Quoting Luke the Swift Seeing as you are busy with many other contest and not able to compete in the Junior lego Olympics how would you like to judge?
Thank you for offering, but I'm still too busy :(

Quoting Mr.Falcon Punch Then it shouldn't be DQed. If it's on another site, who cares? It's like in Cosplay/Costume contests, I've seen one guy dress up as a really good Galactus(?) and he has won three contests in a row...Seems pretty lame that this happened to you...
Oh well, I like this build better anyhow :)

Quoting Fraser Robinson I'm not really liking the bottom level, however the top's landscaping is very good.
Yeah, the bottom level was something new for me, as I rarely do rockwork :P

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga To be honest, I can tell this was done fairly quickly. However, the lighting on the first few pictures is quite honestly the most accurate lighting for a tunnel I've ever seen. The technique for the dark floor is great, and the story is suitably emotional :P Nice job!
Well, it WAS done quickly :P Glad you liked the story and lighting :)

Quoting Armon Russ Excellent story to go with your intro. I love the way you SNOTted your cave, and the landscaping above is just as great. Nice work, and have fun in the Tourney! :)
Thanks, Armon! Hopefully I can make it past this round :P

Quoting Halhi 141 Neat build, though I'm not so sure that I like the mix of dark grey and black. And you need the link to the Tourney group and you have to state your bracket or category.

Quoting Freeling ++ Pretty 'genious. Building in black with the dark grey, so that under certain lighting, only the dark grey would show up. Nice.
Thank you! I can't say the latter part was intentional, but I'm glad it worked that way :)
