My Guild is the Average Gnomes!

My Category is...
Heraldry:
-From Peasant to Knight
For years a certain young lad has been dreaming about becoming a knight. Show the young lad (could be your character from when he was in his teens) becoming a knight. If the young lad is not your character, then add your character as some sort of mentor in the lad's life. Example: Your character has been training some teens in the area of swordsmanship. Suddenly, a band of robbers charge the area - all but one lad runs away and you and the lad are left to fight off the robbers. In the end, you promote the lad to a Knight.

Now, prepare a very long, but hopefully enjoyable story!

Our Story Begins with a young boy named Joshua.
Joshua was a simple child, his father a farmer and his mother was a cook.
He dreamed of becoming a heroic knight one day, collecting fame and glory!
Although he had much potential to be a knight, his father would not allow it.
That all changed one day...

I'll just show off the Easter Egg first;) Here we see a Crimson Knight, and who's that in the shadows? Could it be an outlaw named Freeling? Could this be his doing? >:P

"Come on father,"Yelled Joshua as he rushed past.
"We won't accomplish 'nything if you go 'n crack your head on a rock!"

The two men did their morning chores, feeding the pigs, and drawing water from the well.

In the afternoon, much to his father's dismay, Joshua practiced his swordsmanship skills.

Popping out of the family's cottage, Joshua's mother called his father and him in for supper.

He dropped his stick, and hurried towards his home.

With that, the family disappeared into their cottage for several hours.
Enjoying supper and a roarin' fire!

Early the next morning, a knock on the door was heard...

The father answered, "Hello, can I help you sir?"
The Knight replied, "we have come with news.
Do to the heating battle of our war with Rainos, we have been forced to do a military draft."
"I am past the age of drafting, and I have a wife and-" the knight interrupted the man, "A son? If you have a son he must come with us."

Just then the rest of the soldiers came up the path.
They asked "Is there a boy of age here?"

The farmer hastily replied, 'No! No boy of age of age here, you may go now."

Joshua burst through the door right then, he was mortified. A real, live band of knights was in front of him!

As his father talked to the knights about how his son can't go to the army, and such...Joshua approached the lead knight's horse. He saw a shining silver blade, it was beautiful to him!

He grabbed the blade, and had a daydream of leading troops into battle one day.
Imaging the cries, "For the glory of Mythron!"

One of the knights walked over, "Be careful, you're holding a very dangerous weapon!"
"Can I show you something," asked Joshua?

He grabbed the knight's gloved hand, and pulled him across the bridge.

"Look over here! I built this from spare pieces of wood and other junk around the house.
One day I'll be just like you! A powerful knight, defending the weak, and collecting fame all the way!"

The knight gave a small smile, remembering his youth and dreams of knighthood.

An agreement couldn't be made between the knights and Joshua's father...so it was decided the
group would stay the night. In the morning the conversation would continue...

Dawn light broke, and the shadow of a house could be distinguished.
It was a peaceful sight, the chimney had smoking blowing hard, and the stream was almost making music of it's own.

The silence was broken by the cries of drunken men. They spent their night, drinking till they couldn't tell a women from a goat. Somehow they wondered to the Kindle's home, with weapons and torches!

One of the knights was woken by the racket, and came out with his sword drawn.
He was disgusted by the drunken men, but knew he couldn't handle them alone.

He darted inside and slammed the door! The drunken men cried out "What ye scared of boy, a litt' rum ain't done no harm to us."

The door of the cottage swung opened, the knight leader jumped out in full amour.
"What ya goin' do? You knights aren't scared of a wee bit o' rum, are ya? Hahaha, a man can't enjoy a merry night with you around!" The knight replied" Leave now, or you Will DIE."
"Haha, no knight will be jumin' on me, blade drawn and all! I ain't done nothing to you!"

The knight was enraged with the drunken bums, he stabbed his sword through the leader of misfits.

Backing the brave knight up, the rest of his team came out of the cottage. They were ready for a fight!

The battle was on!

The men fought off the outlaws and drunken men!

And they continued fighting for a half an hour or so.

When the battle was over most of the outlaws were dead or half alive.
Sadly, some of the brave knights had also been wounded...

When it had all stopped, Joshua and his mother came out of the cottage.
Joshua's mother had a look of regret on her face, she hated bloodshed of any kind.

Joshua looked over the bodies, a real battle had just occurred...and he was stuck inside.
Combing over the bodies, he found one of the knights. He was still breathing, Joshua was so happy to see him alive! He thought knights have no need to die, all they want is to keep the peace and protect.

He called over his mother, together they carried the man inside to tend to his needs.
Joshua was half happy and half sad, one side of him though of the knight's pain, while the other realized he would have to stay in his home!

Joshua's father and the group leader spoke..."Your son is very brave.""Thank you, he is very brave indeed, but he belongs here. Not in the heat of battle where is adventurous spirit would get him killed!""It seems one of our men will be staying here for a few weeks...when we return we will decide the fate of Joshua."

The weeks with the soldier past like hours. Joshua showed him everything around his house.
The soldier also took a liking to the boy, seeing the potential in the boy. The boy decided to show the soldier where he trained his sword skills...

The soldier was quite impressed! He playfully knocked the dummy around with his stick, while Joshua simply watched in amazement at the Knight's skills!

In the following days, Josh's swordsmanship skills were refined.

One evening, Joshua and the soldier were having a playful dual...suddenly, the peaceful silence was broken by the enraged cries of men.

Orcs and dwarfs suddenly came into view. Some were the same outlaws that attacked the Kindle's home a few weeks before! Apparently, they had returned for revenge.

In moments a whole guilds worth had appeared! There was dwarfs, orcs, outlaws, and even Rainosian soldiers! Heaven knows how they got there.

The to men prepared for battle! They couldn't call Joshua's parents for help as they were fast asleep!

The knight put himself between the oncoming outlaws and Josh.

But Joshua was not safe...outlaws were swimming through the river! He soon found himself facing off a Rainosian soldier and a dwarf!

The soldier was facing off several outlaws on the bridge. The first one only had half a head, he practically allowed himself to be killed!

The next outlaw stepped up for battle...

The knight spun around and swiftly stabbed the man!

Josh found himself fighting his own battle!
He narrowly took on the Rainosian soldier, but overcame him.

He then went on to taking out the dwarf.

The knight sliced one of the outlaws hands, and grabbed a dagger from his other.

Using the dagger, he ducked from an Orc's blade...

And sliced through his arm!

Joshua was able to out jump the dwarf, and trip him. He then swiftly sliced the dwarf right up the middle! (Ouch O.O)

But even the finest soldiers can't fight forever, the knight was stabbed by the Rainosian!

The soldier fell down in pain, he shouted "Joshua! Help!"

Just in the nick of time, Josh stabbed the Rainosian soldier. He saved his friend from death, he almost felt like a knight defending the weak.

Josh helped his friend up, nervously thinking that the soldier would die!

Despite Joshua's worst fears, the soldier was fine.
The battle had raged through most of the evening, but the two agreed to sleep till morning.

In the morning son, the knight leader had returned for his soldier. The men discussed the battle of the night before, and the soldier spoke highly of Joshua's bravery.
The facts could not be denied, Josh was the perfect material for the army. His father new his son would be married soon, and leave there home...and an army salary could give Joshua the money he needed for a family. So after much discussion and argument, it was decided that he would indeed be drafted.

Josh's mother joined the conversation, and heard what plans had been made. Although she was very sad, she knew it was for the better.

Before Joshua left, he ran and hugged his mother. She cried happy tears, and hoped the best for her son. She wished him well, trying not to cry too much...but ultimately couldn't resist a long good bye.

With that, the trio of Mythronian men went off! Little did anyone know, Joshua would one day become Sir Kindle. Or that he would have many adventures, and save the lives of many people.

Bonus Pictures for the Judges!

I hope I can make it to round 2:D
God Bless!

Quoting Gilbert Despathens Now that Round 1 is over, I can finally tell you that most of this build was great, but the story was WAY too long. What about all those judges with short attention spans? Also, where was little brother Kindle in this MOC?
I'm really sorry it was so long, but I couldn't think of decent way of shortening it:/ Also, I didn't feel older brother Kindle would work here...so it will later be revealed on how we're brothers and such. Thanks for commenting;)
