100 points to the first person who can guess which 1980's film I watched before building the cab....
About this creation
Hello peeps, here's my 2nd creation. Another mech with tank tracks. I think rolling mechs are gonna become a bit of a theme here cos i've already got ideas for a new one... Anyways here it is. I wanted to make a lighter mech than last time, with more agile legs but still be able to change into rolling mode...
Anyways hope you like it....
Just some different angles to start
Firing the long range weapon
Some shots of the Predator standing and in rolling mode
Here's a shot of the mech in it's basic form, you can see the cockpit and engine behind. Twin turbo V-8 diesel. Also the winch.
With the weapon rack and coms/radar attached
Side weapons are interchangeable. This one has one long range heavy cannon on one side and on the other side a 9 pod rocket launcher, this one is loaded with javelin missiles.
You can see the rocket launchers better in this shot. Also how the cockpit opens
A closer look, the cockpit closes completely with the mini fig in honest
Here's a shot of the mech's antipersonnel chain-fed machine guns
The pilot outside for scale
Here's some edited photo's
The pilot and the engineers posing outside their latest creation
Hope you like it peeps...... Dawn Forge Rocks!
I kind of rushed the write up on this one so I thought I'd add a few words about the function of the mech and some of it's good and bad bits. You know all the sci fi made up stuff.
the Predator class mech is designed to hunt out and destroy enemy Csek, I imagine it cruising around decimated urban wastelands searching for bad guys.
Inside the head behind the grill are scopes that can switch between infra red for night vision, thermal and also magnetic rays. There's also a radar on the top for picking up enemy movement. But my favourite flight of fancy is the "Synthetic olfactory sensor" this effectively sniffs out Csek by drawing air into the gaping grill at the front and analysing the smell. The Csek have a very specific oil in their mechanical bodies and the "Synthetic olfactory sensor" can detect the faintest whiff. This information is then represented as a mist on the pilots VDU...
Also lots of firepower for a small mech
Because of the position of the front mounted machine guns, when they are fired the they confuse the "Synthetic Olfactory Sensor" and stop it working until enough clean air can be pulled through to clear it out.
Also this is a fairly light mech and all though well equipped would not stand up to a massive sustained attack from a larger force so stealth and picking your fights are key to survival.
I think this mech might also be good for rescue missions, looking for human survivors, what with the winch and the pick axe and stuff. it could sniff out injured soldiers like some kind of futuristic blood hound......
