About this creation
My entry for Round 1 of The Tourney .

Bracket: Foot Combat.
Guild: The Council of The Dragon.

"Hammer and Tongs: The gloves are off and the swords just aren't doing the trick! You and your opponent may still have your blades around, but they aren't the only weapons in play. Use anything - terrain, tools, scenery, people - to win the upper hand in this out-of-the-ring showdown. Remember, we want action in this bracket! When in doubt, think of Captain Jack Sparrow."

Sir Garrick had had enough of sitting around. Although he was not exactly a social person, he decided that taking a walk through the busy city was marginally preferable to sitting indoors. The Rainosian hedge-knight had thought it wise to leave his sword and shield behind, as an armed Rainosian strolling around Mythron might attract too much unwanted attention.

Nearby, a builder was hard at work...

A man emerged from a nearby alleyway. He was a young man and poorly dressed.

"Here we go...", thought Sir Garrick, "A victim of poverty, hoping for a handout."

The beggar drew a dagger and advanced on Sir Garrick...

"What have we here then?", asked the man, "A knight with no sword? Hand over your coin, my man, and nobody needs to get hurt."

Sir Garrick was not in the mood for this.

"I shall not be handing over anything, lad, and it is you who is at risk of being harmed, not I." , replied the knight.

Quick as a flash, Sir Garrick leapt into the air and kicked the blade from the would-be-mugger's hand...

The dagger landed several yards away, and the lad ran after it, like a dog after a bone...

The move had bought the knight some time, but he meant to end this fight, and quickly. Spying a sledgehammer in the nearby construction sight he made his move...

Sir Garrick picked up the heavy tool...

The lad had retrieved his dagger and moved in towards Sir Garrick...

Realising that his opponent was now also armed, the lad was less hasty this time. The pair circled each other, each waiting for the opportunity to strike...

"You picked the wrong target today, boy.", growled the Rainosian.

Sir Garrick had had enough of this nonsense and moved to strike...

He leapt into the air, swinging the heavy hammer above him...

With a sickening crack, the hammer met its foe and sent him flying...

The young mugger landed with a crash on the construction worker's table. Definitely unconscious, and maybe dead, Sir Garrick didn't care. After all, he wasn't a people person.

"Sorry about the mess.", said Sir Garrick, walking away. That was enough of being outside for one day. He decided he'd maybe be better off sitting indoors.

A couple of pics of the build. Was quite a struggle due to limited bricks. I like how the hammer turned out, although it is similar to one of the ones in a Hobbit set. I also like the construction worker's saw, pretty simple but effective I think. This is also the first time I've used trans-bricks in a build to create that mid-air look. I've never really been a fan of that, as the bricks are always quite noticeable, but I think it turned out ok.

The cast...

Thanks for looking. Man, there's some stiff competition and I don't think I stand a chance. It was fun nonetheless. I think I prefer this character to my regular LOM character.

Also, I 'borrowed' that technique of using a blank face (to show that somebody is unconscious) from somebody, but I can't remember who. If it was you, then let me know and I'll credit you for it.

Please rate/comment etc.

I too like the buildings' textures. Nice action! I'm not sure I like the path leading to the one building though. Nice build!

Quoting George Marshall Looks great! The random detail on the houses looked very nice, and the ground was good too, although it could have been better with some added detail. The idea of this contest was to use out of the ordinary things to battle your opponent, but you only used a big hammer. I guess that goes along the guideline, but might hold you back because of the lack of originality and variation. ANyways, great job, and good luck!
Yeah I was hoping to involve a few more things, like the chain, scaffold etc in the background, but it was one of those 'I post this today or it doesn't happen' kinda deals. Cheers for the constructive criticism though.

I think the first to use the blank face technique was Dave Kaleta. Anyway, nice build!
