I thought my position as captain was safe. I was wrong. For a few weeks after taking the helm from Osia, everything went well. We plundered, we drunk, we laughed, and we weren't caught. But a Taksil crew member had taken a disliking to me the second I joined the crew. I should've killed him, but I never believed he would actually be able to do me any harm. Again, I was wrong. He had been spreading lies about me to the crew, and many of them were flocking to his side.
So that was how Fayku and I found ourselves alone, stripped of weapons and most of our clothes and gear, on a random island, watching The Calm Before The Storm sail away into the distance.
"We have to get that ship back! We have to stop them! They have Tofruil! They...we have to..." Fayku started babbling and crying. I grabbed him and tried to calm him down. "We will. We will, my friend. But we can only help he if you get your act together!"
Eventually he calmed down and we pooled our collective resources. "One knife." Fayku said glumly. "Hey, it's enough." I said, more hope in my voice.
I grabbed a strong stick from the floor and started sharpening the tip with the knife while Fayku went exploring.
I had just finished my weapon when Fayku returned, but he wasn't alone. He was accompanied by a bunch of angry-looking natives.
They pushed Fayku towards me and surrounded us.
I thought they were about to attack when a commanding voice called out. "Stop!" Another native was approaching, and he seemed to be in charge. "Let me speak with them."
The natives moved aside and the man walked towards me. "I am Chief Hoe Ten. This is my island. What are you doing here?" After that I quickly explained our mutiny. "All we need is a ship and a crew and we will be on our way." I said. The man thought for a moment. "We have a ship, but we need a captain. And we can give you a crew, but you must do something for us first." He said. "Anything." I replied.
Hoe Ten held out a bone to me. "There is a beast who has been tormenting us. Kill it and we will give you what you want. When you are ready, cast this bone into the ocean to summon the creature." he said.
And then they melted back into the undergrowth, leaving Fayku and I alone with nothing but a bone, a knife, and a spear. "Well what do we do now!" Fayku said. "We get ready." I replied.
Fayku made himself some clothes for his body and a makeshift weapon. I stuck with just my spear. When we were ready, I cast the bone into the sea.
No sooner had the bone touched the water than a loud roar almost shook the very ground beneath us.
A minotaur charged towards us. Fayku and I readied ourselves...
...but we were both knocked aside.
The beast turned and started towards Fayku...
...giving me time to get my spear and approach the monster from behind.
Just before it struck, I drove the spear into the minotaur's calf, causing it to rear back in pain.
It spun around with alarming speed and grabbed me by the throat!
The minotaur threw me hard onto the sand, but Fayku attacked it.
It spun to attack him, but the Dwarf was too fast. I snatched my spear up as the minotaur prepared to charge Fayku...
...and swung the weapon into the minotaur's legs...
...sending it sprawling on the floor. As soon as it landed Fayku smashed his club into the minotaur's skull.
Fayku took another swing for good measure, and I drove my spear into its chest. The monster howled, and was dead.
As soon as the minotaur breathed its final breath, Hoe Tem arrived again. "Well done, my friends. You have done what we asked, and here is your ship!" He pointed out towards sea...
...and to a small green ship that was approaching the shore. "It might not be The Calm, but I quite like it..." I said, smiling. "A ship's a ship." Fayku shrugged.
So there you have it, my last freebuild of the month (my fifth) and, indeed, of 2013! Hope you liked it, that's the first custom ship I've built at the end, due to the immense negative reaction to my use of the Mega Blocks one. I like it, even if it is awfully...green...
