Tequilatron Plasmadrill transporter | CSPMC2
The Plasmadrill transporter is Tequilatron's heavy duty mineral collector. These guys' core business is providing the galaxy with a steady amount of salt and limedust. Demands are up and it's time to get about that drilling! The tripod is transported on a trailer, lead by a buggy. It's deep plasma beam is able to recover long hidden salt and limedust deposits underneath the planet's surface.
About this creation

CSPMC2 Group

The set's two alternative builds:
The Tequilatron ATP Walker & The 'Mosquito' surface explorer

The builds use 97 pieces total

The main set consists of a buggy / rover, the designated driver, a detachable trailer and a standalone tripod 'deep plasma drill'. More about this technology over here

The tripod gets transported from HQ to pre-scanned rich underground mineral deposits

The pilot can control the trailer's lifting arm from the buggy's on board computer

With the claw at the top end of the arm, the tripod plasmadrill gets set up vertically and is ready to mine the good stuff

A plasmabeam bursts into the soil and the drill can begin it's mining process

The driver heads back to enjoy a margarita or two

The trailer can get left behind as well, it stands alone thanks to an adjustable t-joint at the bottom

After mining is done, the driver returns to pick the drill back up and bring in the minerals at HQ or a refinery (if he's sober, of course)

The Tequilatron ATP (All Terrain Prospector) Walker is an agile platform serving as a scout for mineral deposits. The walker can access deeper surface areas where buggies cannot go and flying explorers aren't able to scan. The ATP Walker has a turnable soil-scanning laserbeam as a right arm. It's left arm is a high pressure power claw, made for rock anlysis and soil sample collection.

It's communication array enables constant contact with HQ. The walker's main mission is to put through high potential mining coordinates

The walker's back carries the comms array, as well as a pressure valve for the arm and the cooling mechanism for the laserbeam.

Minifig scale. The walker's pilot fits into the pod standing up.

The Tequilatron 'Mosquito' explorer spacecraft is a nimble scanning unit, flying over horizons to find mineral deposits and suitable refinery sites. It is launched from a trolley, putting it up in the desired launching angle.

Minifig scale. The explorer's pilot fits comfortably into the opening canopy. The wings are adjustable in angle and height.

Some highly necessary greebles to process and analyze the scanned data.

Bottom and top view of the Mosquito.

Thanks for watching :) I hope you guys enjoyed!

Thanks to David & David for organizing this contest, which proved to be quite challenging but equally enjoyable. Finding the right colors, finding the right parts, the right theme, the playability, adding your own style but keeping the CS legacy in mind.. man this was a test! Sticking to a same set of bricks for several builds did bring out some creative insights. I ended up with a bunch of alternates and refined them as the lot got taken apart and built again.. an awesome trip!

Quoting David Roberts In the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy it says that in an infinitely large universe everything must occur naturally, somewhere. There's a planet inhabited by mattresses, so why....
I can totally dig what you're saying and.. though I know, I still wouldn't have done it any other way: It's just my take on CS ;) You are very true about the stability thing in the walker's legs, the greebles and the studlessness. This represents your keen eye and why you're the right person for hosting and judging this! I truly appreciate the fact that regardless, in the end it turns out to be prize worthy. Thanks for that. A big thumbs up for your elaborate writing, makes it all even more worth it. Cheers.

Quoting David Alexander Smith When I saw this one get posted I almost wept! A truly perfect design, in a truly perfect colour scheme. 10 The alternatives are only a touch off the original. The design of the walkers legs particularly impress. 9 Loading and unloading that drill station is a CS high. Looks quite sturdy and yet detailed. 9 I donít think designers back then or now could have got closer to the CS spirit. I like the use of the newer astronaut helmet especially. 10
Well David.. tears are salty, so that would've served right for these guys :) Thanks for your judging, I'm honoured with the high scores you've given this set! As I've stated in my description, this whole experience was a bunch of fun. I'm glad you guys could enjoy a part of that through my presentation. Job well done on a well run contest, looking forward to the next. Peace!

Quoting Eric Landreneau For a larger set in the theme: a grove of gigantic space-limes, with a harvesting team! And if you want to make baddies, they can be militant prohibitionists! Or space-brewers of vinters going after the competition!
Ahh the opportunities it brings right!? I might just take this to another level in the future. Never did a dio so who knows! Thanks for the idea Eric ;)

In the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy it says that in an infinitely large universe everything must occur naturally, somewhere. There's a planet inhabited by mattresses, so why not a planet where you can mine essential accompaniments for drinks? This MOC looks to be the best tool for this job. The drill is particularly nicely crafted. Its legs are very well thought out and it looks great as well as practical. The trailer is super, with its fold down parking leg. Who would have thought that all of these greebles could be got from so few parts. Lastly the buggy looks tough enough for any terrain. A great choice of colours to match theme too. 10 Great to see a pair of alternate builds with totally different functions from the main MOC. The walker looks excellent, with nice functions too. Perhaps the weakest part of these builds are the walker's legs. I think that the t-joint going into the rocket nozzle wouldn't stand being played with. It looks good but this contest is about CS and CS was design for kids to play with. the Mosquito is a fun little spaceship. I like how there's a good area behind the cockpit for holding onto when swooshing. The engines/wings are firmly attached, by just one stud but firmly attached nonetheless. 7 I've spent quite a bit of time looking at the drill and wondering how strong its legs would be when played with by a 9 or 10 year old. With the lightsaber blade to help support it, it must be quite strong. The hinges on the legs should mean that they fold and don't snap. The rest of the build is sturdy stuff and packed with fun things to do. I particularly like the hinges which clamp around the drill on its trailer. The detachable buggy is great and looks up to being crashed a few times by kids having fun. 8 A very CS feel, with a buggy and trailer combination. The drill is nice variation on the usual radar or rocket that CS sets seem to have on their trailers. CS didn't feature as many greebles as this build (or so few studs!) but I think that this build is in the modern style but keeps the idea of CS. I do think that that a CS toy would have had sturdier legs on the drill. 8 Total 33

Thanks man, I can see your orange and tequila working particularly well together too ;) And yeah, having hinges and t-joints incorporated opens up a lot of possibilities as well as angles. Still it's been trial and error though, replacing and refining.. I'll up some of the WIPs after the contest. GL!

I saw this earlier, but didn't comment, so I'm doing it now. First off, a very nice theme to your build, especially the name. The whole thing looks very small yet it's packed with details! The fact the whole thing is made from small pieces must have helped a lot in building alternatives (something I had a bit of trouble doing)! I also think it deserves extra points for the very nice photoshop :D
