A mysterious underwater empire has developed from the ancient city of Atlantis...
About this creation
Various overall views:

A college school of fish.

This rock was the first part I built and definitely my favorite part; I quite like how the textures turned out. Sadly it had the downside of being very piece intensive, particularly it used lots of cheese slopes.

These rocks were fun to build; they also involved lots of hinges. I'm just glad that I managed to include this skull.

The emperor on his throne.

For Round 3 (the final round!) of the 2013 Builder Triathlon.

The category is "The Empire".

Quoting Halhi 141 Yeah, I agree, I just ran out of time (and pieces) on this...
Ah.
Quoting Halhi 141 Nope, I just forgot.
And ah. :P
Quoting Reynolds . What's with the Bilbo Baggins hair?
Brain Coral? Sea Sponge? I agree it looks a little out of place, seeing as there are no others around it, but it's clearly something of that sort.

The rocks are definitely my favourite part. My rockwork tends to be limited to slopes and cheeses - I like the way you've used a variety of elements to build up the texture.

Quoting Kai Bernstein Do you dislike long comments or is it just the type of comments I leave? That's the second one now that's been ignored. I like responses. :P

Quoting Kai Bernstein Really nice job! great rockwork as usual; incorporating the skull was a neat idea. Nice piece usage, too, with the carrot top, snakes and hairpiece as plants and such. The size of the build and the way everything is spread so thinly around it makes it look a bit bare, though, and I think the steps to the emperor's throne could use the odd stud or change of color - chipped sections, rocks, or bits of sand - to make it mix better with the rest of the scene.

Quoting Reynolds . Try making your own baseplate, it looks better.
Try getting enough tan plates to make a 32x48 base.

Quoting Armon Russ Nice job on making it look drifting-ish. :P The rockwork is great, too. Except IMO, rockwork + studs = bleah. I never leave studs on my rockwork. But other than that, everything else is excellent.
Meh, I like studs on rockwork, makes it more rough and textured. Thanks though.

Quoting Ian ..... Looks pretty good and the merman is awesome.
Thanks Ian, I think I actually developed the technique a year or so ago (and used it that time). Nice that I could incorporate it into a larger (and better) build this time...

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga Like the custom merman! The rocks are characteristically detailed, but the rest of the landscape is too plain for my tastes.
Thanks Thomas, and I agree, but I had to rush this a bit to be able to finish it on time (and build 2 more contest entries due on the 31st. Which I haven't even started yet. Yikes.)
