Classic Space Mining and Exploration team
Another classic space build from me, I'll be doing these for a while now.
About this creation
These models are based on the idea of searchig for and mining the rare Red Isotope of the mineral unobtainium, which the good people of the Classic Space universe need for making their transparent red machine parts. Being more advance than the people of Nick Barrett's Yellowtron (I hope you let me use this awesome idea, Nick), they already know the magic of translucent blue plastic, but they need the transparent red isotope for communication and computing parts of their complicated space vehicles.

the "set" consists of a large tracked mining rover which can also act as a base, a small scouting buggy and a surveyor spaceplane. All the vehicles feature some sort of a radar dish, so they can communicate with each other. Nobody wants to get lost on some unknown planet!

The mining rover is operated by two astronauts/technicians and is split into two parts: the front with the driver's cockpit, communication equipment and two large scanners, and the rear with the big unobtainium container and mining arms. The rear also features a winch for towing purposes.

The driver surrounded with his controls and screens, with a lever in one hand and a cup of fine Earl Grey tea to spice up the long days of space mining in the other. That, coupled with the smooth ride provided by the tracks ensures he will never spill his tea, now matter how bumpy the ride gets. And that's really important, as he doesn't have a visor!

The rear mining setup is operated by the mining operator (who would have thought?), who controls everything with two levers from his "superiority seat". He also has a communication device, commonly referred to as the "phone on a handle".

The rover can split in two, the front part can drive off to pick up another mining device to tow it somewhere else and leave the current one to it's business. Too bad I only made one mining section.

The scout buggy. It has a set of smaller scanners on the front and side, and a small mining device, so it can mine smaller unobtainium sites by itself. The main role of the buggy is to respond to the messages of the surveyor spaceplane and check out potential unobtainium sites before the arrival of the large mining rover. Noone wants to burn "Large mining rover" fuel for nothing!

The surveyor spaceplane. It flies around and searches for potential unobtainium sites using the old and proven "you'll know it when you'll see it" method.

The pilot flies the plane via two levers, but he also has a switchboard with lots of buttons right under his feet. Noone really knows what it's for, but it isn't really bothering anyone.

Group shot!

Action scenes, with slightly worse lighting (had to use a single light source, since two suns = nonsense ;)
1. "Mining"

2. "Scanning"

3. "Exploring"

4. "God dammit Frank, you broke it again?"

lol, I never thought I d hear you say that, for me, it s just a matter of looks, your tanks look fab, and I d love to see a different color scheme and maybe a touch of fantasy futuristic touch on one, admit that a blue tank with the space logo would shine, xd, I m all about peace in real life, but, fictional violence is fun, as, there are no victims.

Quoting JWG 258 Looks like a fun set. Also, you should join the classic space pocket money contest II.
I know editing comments doesn't work as it should - yours doesn't have a "like" anymore. Anyhow, I will join CS pocket money contest II, I just have to figure out my entry. Which will be hard to make under 100 pieces..

I don't think i'll be making a tank, since Classic Space is all about peaceful exploration, and I love that, Lego is getting a bit too violent these days. And merry christmas to you too!

Haha! I love it. Great expansion of the idea (which you're more than welcome to use - thanks for the mention), built and presented with all the wit and innocence that we've come to love about classic space. Hugely enjoyable post with a great collection of models.
