My first attempt to recreate an actual motorcycle from Lego Technic, this is supposed to resemble my own 1984 Honda VF500 Magna, using almost entirely pieces available prior to 1994.
About this creation
Been meaning to try and build Technic model that looks like my bike for some time now.
The 1984 Honda Magna is a cruiser-style bike with a V4 engine and four-into-two exhaust system. My Technic version tries to replicate both these features, with a working (fixed gear) V4 engine.

Close up of steering head of bike which I've done slightly differently to most of my other motorcycles. This gives a decent amount of steering lock (more than the real thing!).

The real bike has a drum brake at the back and I've done my best to make one out of Lego Technic here. The brake plate is made from the hub of one of those medium size wheels that "freewheeled" on their axles unless you attached a pulley wheel to their hubs (for some reason all of the ones in my box of bits are white). Used here without the tyre, this allows the plate to be fixed to the swingarm using a torque arm, whilst allowing the axle that bears the roadwheel to spin freely through its centre. I tried running the flex cable that links the brake arm, to the right side pedal, but couldn't manage to do so without it snagging on the exhaust when the suspension was depressed, so a "solution" was found attaching it to the frame under the rear suspension pivot.

With centre stand raised, the foot lever pokes upwards to the outside of the left-hand exhaust - just as it does on the real thing. The centre stand foot lever is the limiting factor when the bike is leaned to the side.

Ground clearance is minimal when both front and rear suspension are depressed.

Pillion pegs just above the twin exhausts.

Below is a picture of the real thing - lots of details missing. Of course it doesn't really look much like the model, but it IS Lego, and I've tried to include the main features as well as I can.

Good old-fashioned Technic, and it looks enough like your bike to convince as a model. Nice work.

Quoting Joost Cumps Cool! really nice old school technic job. It ressembles very well!
Thanks for that, the main thing I confess to failing on is the steering rake which isn't nearly steep enough - but didn't realise until I had pretty much finished the frame and forks. I've posted some better images now. Appreciate the compliment Joost!
