Diplomatic Courier
Designed to be fast and stealthy enough to avoid confrontation, courier ships like this carry sensitive packages and diplomats throughout the Hegemony of Albion's sphere of influence.
About this creation

Although designs vary slightly, all such ships have the same basic configuration - the cabin in the forward section, power systems and engines at the rear.

The powerful communications array and sensor package, combined with the low-reflective properties of the ship's hull, help to ensure that undesirable encounters are avoided

Entry to the cabin is through the front gangway...

The normal complement is two crew members, although the small but carefully designed cabin allows for one VIP passenger.

The passenger seat converts into a bed, which is used in rotation by the crew and passenger on longer voyages.

To stave off boredom and cabin fever, the ship is equipped with a multi-functional entertainment station, a holovid projector, and even a few real books for that luxurious feel. Storage compartments for personal effects are embedded in the walls. Just don't ask where they go to the toilet.

All passengers are advised not to leave the ship on unknown planets without oxygen tanks!

Despite the obvious Star Trek design influence, and passing resemblance to the USS Vengeance, this was never intended to be part of that universe - but a much smaller minifig-scale ship with a similar layout to Star Fleet vessels. I also wanted it to have a fully realised (if small) interior, hopefully as a practice for future, larger spaceship designs.
All comments and ideas for improvements appreciated!

Quoting Stuart Lucas Hi Ian (or other judges), Happy New Year! And thanks for your generosity in running this contest again! I'm debating whether to enter at the moment - I actually built an entry suitable for R1 already but I'm wondering a bit about the following rounds, if I were to get through. Are the categories going to be pretty directly locations/events from the books, as last year, or slightly more open to taking a sideways approach? The reason I ask is that I don't generally collect LotR sets, so if I get a category that needs a bunch of specific characters I'll be stumped. (Bricklink is pretty slow where I live too!) I'd appreciate any general ideas about what to expect in the following rounds, without of course giving too much away!
A Happy New Year to you too! As the first one the following elimination rounds will mainly be about quotes, so that will leave you more space for your own interpretation than the last MELO. Though there will still be quotes that expect a special location like "Speak friend and enter!" But of course there are also quotes that don't expect a specific location or scene from the movies like "Fight! Fight to the last man! Fight for your lives!"(Gandalf in Minas Tirith)

I love the sort of fusion of an Enterprise and a Bird of Prey, if you see what I mean. The presentation in that first photo is really eye-catching, as is the contrast of the white cockpit and the dark hull. It looks fun to swoosh around too!

Fantastic boat there chief! Love the color, going from a black exterior to a white interior gives a definitive feel of a comfy space. The sparse controls are perfect with the rounds, very futuristic touch pad like feel. You have managed to cram a lot of detail in without it getting overwhelming. The space seems well thought out and flows efficiently and logically. The exterior couldn't be better. Love the black on black greebling. I'd almost like to see multiple engine variants just to get a different proportionate feel. Maybe four engines in a Stargazer cluster. Or five just to be different. Stellar job Stuart!
